How the hell is this dished up to us as news? Some stupid bloody women in wrap around union jack's wailing and telling us everyone loves a Princess. Was it Willie Hamilton that labelled them "gold plated scroungers" - if it was him, I find myself in entire agreement.

It's news.
You might not like it and I find the whole thing tedious but it is news.

How can something that has happened over 6 billion times be news?

Seriously?
I'm a republican but it is news. I don't see how you can say it isn't. Just don't read the reports of it upsets you.

I find the coverage of it boring and think the people who have camped outside the hospital for days on end very sad individuals but the wife of the future king of the United Kingdom giving birth is big news that will be making the headlines in every single major international newspaper tomorrow.

It's dished up as news because there are many folk out there who have a soft spot and an interest in the royals. For what it's worth, I think it's a nice story to have compared to depressing stories we see and read all the time now.

It's news...but it really shouldn't be.

At least these celebrities that people fawn over in a similar fashion have some sort of talent that sets them apart.

Big news, it means your kids and grand kids may also have the pleasure of supporting the luxurious lifestyle of a dubious German immigrant family who's ancestors were great at killing people.

I wouldn't class the royal family as celebrities.

And if you think half the people that are classed as celebrities these days have some sort of talent you Are very much mistaken!!

Well, it's even "news" over here in Germany, and I dare say all over the world, pretending it is anything otherwise is pointless ... you may not agree with it (just a guess on my part) but it is definitely "news".

If David Beckham getting a hair cut is news then a princess having a baby must be as well.
Personally I would do away with the lot of them. I used to work with a couple of French guys and they always used to say " off with their heads":greengrin

Disagree. The royal family are nothing more than celebrities nowadays.

You're probably right about the talent part though which is extremely depressing. Reality TV has a lot to answer for.

Two words that have an immediate reactions from me.
Any prog coming on with a title that mentions "Celebrity" - TV gets switched off.
Any email that arrives in my mailbox with the word "Cute" in the title - Deleted instantly.

And I swear I'll vaporise if I ever come across this ...."Cute Celebrity" in any shape or form.

Any word on a name yet?

Think that would be a wonderful bit of news to make a bank holiday Monday even better.

What's the chances of them calling her Diana?

Whilst it would be wonderful for the Queen of our hearts to be honoured in such a way I think it's unlikely.

Personally I'm hoping they include Elizabeth as a tribute to Her Majesty. Victoria Elizabeth Cambridge has a beautiful ring to it, that would be my choice for the little bundle of joy.

It is news and to be honest it hasn't been all over the papers until she actually gave birth.

"Charlotte Elizabeth Diana" she is - if anybody's interested.

We can call her "Princess Charlie" or "Princess Chuck" in the USA

Logged onto a Greek newspaper and found this

Και το όνομα αυτής... Σάρλοτ Ελισάβετ Νταϊάνα(And her name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana)

To give them their due it was nowhere near the front page........

They should have called her Camilla Elizabeth Diana - then all the bases would be covered.

Maybe Charlotte is a nod to Charles?

Maybe not.

I've not seen that picture before, but from the expression it looks as though Harry could be Charles' son after all.

Does anybody else suspect the timing of the birth was planned with the election in mind?

You might think it's a crazy notion, but Royal Events almost invariably increase the Tories vote, e.g. Jubilees of any kind.

Paranoid? Moi?
