I shall be wearing my smart new "Lest We Forget" T-shirt which I have recently acquired from these fine fellows:

Probably cringing that our fans still go on about this.

Even named a street in Leith in his honour. Albert Street.

Must be hard for some of them to walk down Dundee Street on the way to their dustbin of a stadium. I would imagine that they take the long way around.

You have a point. At least put the Dom Pom on ice until after the Hearts/Rangers match. :greengrin

Well the Jambos still go on about 1902 and that was 84 years earlier.

Case dismissed.

How good was Sir Albert on the second goal. Left the first jambo for dust with a quick change of direction and pace.
Then bamboozled the second jambo defender before playing a clever one-two and taking out the entite back line.
The Ball reaches him perfectly and there's a slight pause before hammering it into the corner.
Gorgie drowns in a flood of tears.

I will be dusting off my 1986 photograph of Sir Albert, as he grins away, replete with curly perm and big tache. It will hang on the fireplace for the day, and I shall salute it with great dignity as the clock strikes the minute he scored his first at Dens.

Next year is his thirtieth anniversary, so something extra special will be required: perhaps a twenty-one gun salute from Edinburgh castle.

A great man. The bank holiday weekend was actually introduced in his honour.

Somebody really ought to educate us younger folk, who weren't born until after 1986.

I haven't heard of this story before, what's it all about please? :dunno:

Back in 2005 the OZ branch of the supporters association flew Sir Albert and his wife from Adelaide to Melbourne for a special function in his honour.

I was fortunate enough to be the person who presented him on stage with the retrospective Áustralia Branch Hibs Supporters Assocaition Player of the ydear award for 1985-86.

Top bloke, Top night, and if anyone says that it was a 'myth 'that he got a Hibs supporters player of the year award but never played for us...you can tell them you have the proof that he did!

I was too young to remember the day itself, but the story always makes me laugh. Considering the poor derby record we've had against them in my lifetime, hearts have always given me plenty to laugh about.
