Just the sort of news that you want when you're staring relegation in the face :tee hee:

Didn't something similar happen a few years ago at Partick Thistle?

I think the players threw the Manager in the Swimming Pool and he burst his eardrum... and lost all hearing in that ear.

Can throwing a 'spiked pole' at someone really be classed as a prank? What did Thomson expect the outcome to be? Idiotic, and even more so when you consider hes the club captain.

That would be my view, incredible that throwing a pole with a spike in the bottom could be considered anything but absolutely moronic.

More incredible is that McGinn is their best player.

Remember when St Mirren sacked Danny Lennon and replaced him with Tommy Craig? That worked out well

Crazy thing was everyone said it was a joke decision at the time.

I'm just kicking myself for not lumping on them to get relegated. Said it the day they made that decision. Utter madness

He says he's shocked and mortified and that it's unbelievable that this sort of thing could happen!!!
He threw a spiked pole at someone, what did he think would happen?

Exactly what I was thinking. Wonder what the punishment will be, considering a certain Hibs player was fined for 'only' slagging the pitch

'To$$er' might be a more appropriate in this instance.

Awkward one for the BBC to report on given that Thompson is a bit of a golden child on Sportsound/Sportscene :greengrin

Haven't liked the guy since he viciously aimed an off the ball knee at McPake a couple of seasons back - somewhat tarnished the clean cut image he portrays on TV.

I quite like Steven Thompson, especially his quote about scoring against Rangers, something like "they said I wouldn't celebrate, what a load of rubbish, that felt f***ing amazing".

But honestly, that's in the Kirk Broadfoot/boiled egg in microwave realms of utter stupidity.

He never struck me as someone lacking brain cells so I am inclined to accept the foolish prank excuse.

That was a shocker of a decision. Keeping St Mirren comfortably up and winning them a trophy deserves a deal for life!

Apparently they didn't think Lennon was the man to move them forward. Much like Fenlon said he left to allow us to move forward. And look at the 2 end results!

and immediately negating that argument by replacing him with a coach who was there all of Dannys time at the Buddies. Bizarre decision.

Thompson is a massive female reproductive organ anyway, this just proves it.

Everyone has done daft things that they're mortified about afterwards, but that's a really stupid and irresponsible one. Lucky it didn't hit the lad in the head / eye.

Scottish football could probably produce a top ten bizarre injuries that would rival any other nations!

I would be surprised if he escapes any serious disciplinary proceedings for this.

Why would you throw a spiked pole at someone as part of a prank?

Incredible.

I'm surprised that he even managed to lift Arthur Boruc, never mind throw him at someone.

Not hit the target much this season so probably thought aiming at a teammate would be okay...
