No Hibs candidates. Some absolute beauties to choose from, was torn between Fulton, Mallan & Swanson before finally voting for Danny

Hate to say it, but Ozturk is a surprising omission from the shortlist.

I thought he won it. There was a clip of it on the telly last night.

Agreed. Long range goals are nice to watch, but there are usually quite a lot of them over a season (most of the goals up for goal of the season in fact). I personally like to see something a little different.

To be fair Ozturks was an absolute beauty, fluke or no fluke. It was a centre back from 40+ yards in the dying minutes of a derby to pull his team level...quite unbelievable as much as it sickens me to say it.

I agree. If we done the same we would be kicking off that it wasn't nominated. Not that I could have brought myself to vote for Ozturk anyway. I voted for Swanson since it was an absolute pearler. And he's a good Hibs man:greengrin

So a goal where every outfield player touches the ball doesn't even make the shortlist? 😳

The Ox's wonder strike on the opening day not included?

I voted Mallan, a longe range shot can take a bit of luck at times, what he did takes quality

I disagree. Anyone can batter the ball as hard as they can from 40 yards out and hope for the best. Sometimes, very infrequently, it goes in and it looks spectacular.

Skill factor = quite low IMHO.

I always prefer passing moves to rocket shots and I think Hibs have scored 3 or 4 better goals this season better than some in the top ten. I voted for Mallans as it was a superb solo goal which is not something you see to often. There wasn't any really good passing goals.

The mentions of Ozturks goal and long shots in general reminded me; didn't Dom score a peach against Dumbarton in the 3-6 game in which he also scored a hat-trick?

And usually the keeper takes some responsibility for the "wonder strike" going in. Stevenson at Ibrox for me.
