I lost a very dear friend this week, as a result of an assault in Kirkcaldy last Friday.
Laurie died in hospital on Tuesday.
He and I suffered 6 or 7 home games together last season.

From Musselburgh, he lived for many years in Kirkcaldy and like most of his family was a dyed in the wool Hibby.

Work prevented Laurie from getting to see the boys this season.

A few of his close friends are meeting in the Wheatsheaf in Kirkcaldy tomorrow pre-game. Rangers, Celtic, Dundee Utd and other supporters will be wearing Hibs colours and supporting the Hibees tomorrow in honour of Laurie.

Everyone is welcome to meet in the Wheatsheaf for lunch/pints before the game. Address: 5, Tolbooth St, Kirkcaldy, Fife, KY1 1RW - just round the corner from M&S.

R.I.P. Laurie

Sad news. Can i ask what age Laurie was would be a nice touch by the Hibs fans if they gave a minutes applause when the game reaches that minute to remember him by.

Laurie was 60.
It's a nice thought, but even the power of Hibs.net can't arrange that in time for tomorrow.

Had the pleasure of working with Laurie for a few months in Morrisons Kirkcaldy last year. Always stopped in the shop to share his passion for the Hibs. The last chat was only last week. I knew him as Lawrence. Will miss out chats never had a bad word to say about any one.

Aye, he hated working there and left to drive taxis. He loved the taxis, but unfortunately he had to do weekends, so couldn't get to see his beloved Hibees.
So glad you had the joy of knowing him - a really special guy.

Sorry to hear that. My nephew also a hibee was attacked by two men out side Kitty's nightclub in Kirkcaldy they left him for dead. He had to have life saving brain surgery. Thankfully he is on the mend now. The attack had nothing to do with hibs it was a random assault but just shows you that Kirkcaldy has its fair share of thugs.... As most places do mind you.

Again sorry for your loss.

just read something about a man arrested, for a life threatening assault in Tolbooth St, and he has been bailed! what's going on with society? if it is related to someone's death, he should be back in the nick, surely?

Laurie would not have been the least bit surprised by yesterday's result. He never stopped loving Hibs, despite the fact that 'they always let you doon'
