View Full Version : Lewis 'Goal Machine' Stevenson

Credit where credit is due, three goals so far this season and each and every one has been a very good finish after some excellent movement from him. Loving his calmness and if he can chip in with 3-5 goals a season from a full/wing back position then he's all the more valuable.

On yourself Lewie.

Hat's off to you, Louie. First half especially you were a different class.

I'm one of them!

He's been absolutely excellent this season and certainly a contender for poty. I can't think of one thing I can criticise him for this year, he's been brilliant.

However.....that doesn't mean I was wrong in previous years when I've been critical of him. The difference now is we've found the right position for him. He wasn't a particularly good midfielder though so I still stand by my criticism of him in previous years.

WTF does Lewis think he's upto?

Not satisfied with a intercontinental world cup defence splitting pass for the first goal ...

Who does he think he is skipping up the middle of the pitch, a wee one two with Dominique Manaymar and strokes it past the advancing/despairing keeper to score like it's his second nature, not his second goal in about 100 games?

Messi?

Just WTF?

Yes, I was judging him on his performances, not whether he tried his best or not.

He was a Pretty poor midfielder imo so my posts at that time reflected that.

Likewise, he's been excellent this season at full back and my posts have reflected that.

Doesn't mean my criticism of him as a midfielder was wrong because he's good now, in fact as he's been moved to full back from midfield it probably means I was right.

The reaction from the stands to the announcement of Lewis`s MOM award was terrific, and you can sense a real bond now between player and fan. His pass for Cummings` opener was as good as Allan`s pinpoint ball to Robertson in the 4-0 demolition of Rangers, and his goal simply displayed the evidence of his confidence now to take on players, link up with strikers and have a shot at goal. He tucked the chance away with the composure of a 20 goal a season striker.

I agree that he had a brilliant game and the reception of the crowd was well warranted!

He deserved his MOM award and its great that the support are at last appreciating him as a Hibs player, a team player and a 100% player!

Its sure to give him more and more confidence to try things he wouldnt have tried before

So lets hope the support he gets continues all seasons in all competitions!! go for it Lewis!!

He has been in discussions with club about a new contract but given he has had a series of one year extensions and probably not one of the higher earners you can't blame him this time for holding out for a good deal for himself .He deserves it imo just love it when crowd get behind him

I never bought in to all this "every manager must see something in him to keep him around" stuff that folk kept saying, I thought he was average at best and sometimes even worse than that.

Alan Stubbs clearly saw what Lewis had but he's the first person since Mowbray/Collins to be able to properly utilise it correctly. I fully understand we are playing at a lower level now but this Lewis Stevenson is like a new player, in years gone by he'd never have made these runs or passes or shots but now he is and it's fantastic.

I made a thread once about how average he was and at the time I still think he was average at best but now I will eat all of the humble pies and crows and sit in a swimming pool of beans for a week, him and Gray on each side of our defence is the best thing we have had since Murphy and Whittaker.

Opinions, eh... for me the fact that LS has shown commitment and loyalty to the cause is almost as important. Every manager (and there have been a few) has recognised his contribution and seen a role for him at ER. You never hear him causing any trouble or looking disinterested.

Football is a mercenary business and I hope he remains a one club man for his entire career.

AS was saying that getting to the semi final would have a positive impact on his playing budget. I hope the club are now drafting a few player contracts and booking meetings with agents...
