Afternoon all,

I've lost a fair bit of weight and my kilt that I got made for my wedding is literally falling off me.

Anyone got any recommendations for a good kilt alterer/seamstress?

I'm coming up at the end of the month, and would like to get it taken in.

Cheers

J

Unless you've lost shiploads of weight, you might be better (and cheaper) getting somebody local to simply move the buckles (a 10 minute job) - that way it'll be easier to let it back out when you become a fatty again. :greengrin

I think it's more than a buckle job. Lost 4st 1lb so I think there's some serious rework required.

Never plan on being a fattie again so am prepared to make the investment.

Good stuff! :aok:

We used to use Jean O'Rourke in Longniddry for all our (pipe band) stuff - she never let us down.

Jean McKirdy (around Gilmerton somewhere at the time) was also OK, but I can't find her details on the net so I don't even know if she's still on the go.

Finding someone called 'Kilt' to fix my jeans was even more difficult.

G B Tailoring in Craiglockhart are very good. 2 of the tailors are ex military and they still do a lot of the the formal wear for officers.

They made me a pair of trews last year that are a fantastic fit and beautifully made.
