A fraction more by than by train at £20 a head??

A cheap day return Edinburgh to Alloa is £9.40

A group save 3 is £18.60
A group save 4 is £24.80
A group save 5 is £31.00

You do the math.

Two groups of 4 = 8 people for £49.60 or £160 by taxi. I know what I'd choose.

Just checked with Central Taxis and a 6 seater price to Alloa is £80 one way or £160 for a return, so Capital Cars aint given you a discount, only difference being is an extra 2 people, amazing how a wee bit BS can fool people.

No discount is getting offered at all, if anything they are over charging.

If someone wanted door-to-door service, it might be a good deal for them. I don't live anywhere near ER so would have to factor getting there too :aok:

Interesting that two of the negative replies have come from someone who 1) works for a train company and 2) a rival taxi firm... :hmmm:

Oh, and Hibs get a donation for any fares booked too, so that can only be a good thing...can't it?

Fill your boots, you'll probably have the entire amount of available vehicles to yourself.

If your booking a private hire to go to Alloa, give yourself plenty time as you might end up in peebles !

Can you imagine getting on that train.......

"we're bound to leave late, it's going to crash and the competition's train will be cheaper and faster"

The negative points are true though! I will take anyone who wants to go to any away game for £120 return and I'll donate 30% to hibs.

A black cab is £80 for the journey, that means the driver has been paid for the return already, hence why it's dearer than the meter fare. Book a cab and give the driver an extra £40 for the 2 hour wait and get him to return you, all in around £120, give him an extra £10 as a tip and it'll be £130 for 6 people, £22 each return.

BTW Suzy I wasn't complaining, just wanted people to realise it wasn't a discounted fare and it was slightly dear. I could guarantee if you phoned an Allloa cab company, they'd do the job for around £50.

Supporters bus for me every time. It always gets you to the game with plenty time for a peeve beforehand. I wonder what price the taxi would be leaving at 12.30 to get us to the usual pub in Alloa for 1.15?? Total rip off IMHO

Unless you are able to count (the Capital Cars deal is a scam).

Edit: I think both black cabs and private hires could be a bit more creative with their pricing on deals like this. Guaranteed big fares at a quiet time.

Black cabs and private hire use the same tariff on their meter.
Black cabs are driven by people who have done the knowledge, and can lose their brief if they take you the wrong way.
Private Hires are driven by people who haven't done the knowledge, and can't get done for taking you the wrong way.
Black cabs can use the bus lanes.
So you are paying the same price and have to decide whether you trust a) the guy who is bound by law to take you the fastest shortest route, or b) some guy that has borrowed his mate's "taxi" for the night, and has never been beyond the end of his own street.
Not much in it really - the choice is yours.
