Potentially could make pre-season friendlies a bit more interesting (if that's the idea behind it).

Ah, the Anglo Scottish Cup, brings back memories.
Travelled to Blackburn on the infamous Edinburgh West bus. Got to Carlisle and found a boozer. Unknown to most of us an unnamed Hibee thought he was Tarzan and started swinging from pipes in the outside loo.
Needless to say the landlord was not impressed with his flooded bog and called in the police.
Upshot was that all in the pub were lifted and didn't make the bus for the onward journey to Blackburn.
I eventually got home sometime the next day after some of us eventually getting a bus back from Hawick.
SB, you have still not been forgiven :greengrin

Don't fancy a first round tie away to Plymouth on a Wednesday night.

Tottenham away. Luv it!
Pity it's so far off. It would have been an ideal stepping stone on the way to European glory!

Think the proposal doesn't include EPL clubs.
Not sure I'd be that bothered with such a competition, especially given the above.

Nothing more than a free scouting opportunity for Championship clubs to hoover up our talent. Yawn.

Sounds like a great idea, they should just keep it between the championship down south and the premiership up here. If it doesn't work then there's no harm done.

I seem to remember HEARTS lost 8-1 to BURNLEY in a game

Did we actually qualify for that tournament that many times? As I recall, we normally qualified for Europe every year instead. :greengrin
Just checked wiki in the 5 years it was the Texaco 1970-75, Hearts were in it 5 times while we were in Europe I assume, and as the anglo Scottish they were in it 3 times, we were in it twice, just as we were on the downward spiral.

Looks as if you're right.
I must be thinking of another game. I do remember calling up my Yam mate, and getting him out of his bed, to tell him the score.:greengrin

Remember the Bristol City game ... they were a bunch of dirty bassas and their home programme was bloody patronising to us. Thought they were Billy big baws compared to Hibs.

It was 1973-74, you must've been confused with some other game they were humped 0-7.
