I just feel it's been the same for too long now. We can do everything right all through a game but like today, and so many times before this season we have just have not got what we deserve out a match. (More often than not against the gunts)

should it be a hard bas|*}d defender who just gets the message through on the pitch to the players that for example today "we will not lose a goal at all costs" when we enter the closing stages. Fight battle and concentrate.

We we need a player who might not be the best in the team but really gets that attitude and message across mid game its been missing for a good few years now. Kinda like the way a John Terry or Steve Bruce bossed better players in their team during games but rammed home the importance of concentrating and winnining at all costs.

Agree massively. There's plenty of talent in our squad, and someone that can keep us focused for the 90(+), would make a big difference.

That man is injured

If you mean Gray I'm not quite sure he is that man. Don't get me wrong he is prob one of the best defenders we have had in ages but he's not that vocal.

i want to see a Hibs player going bonkers screaming at his team mates (like should have been today) with minutes to go lets f-ing win this no slip ups etc.

Boring thread that always appears when we drop silly points. Someone will suggest Jim Goodwin soon I imagine.

Its boring because it keeps happening.

Whenever we get one, like Deegan for example they just get criticised for not being a better passer or not scoring enough goals.

Yesterday is an example of what can often happen when your main two strikers are not available. We have decent depth but they aren't natural consistent goal scorers as yet.

Dinny be daft.

Weve been needing a controller and destroyer for years. :agree:

exactly what we need a defensive midfielder who does the dirty and physical work and lets those with the skill and ability to go and play .... yesterday Robbo having to go off was the problem and I don't think Handling was the right replacement ..fine if McGeoch is the best person to drop into that role but Stanton is more of a like for like as he will go and take the ball and interplay with others and commit opponents and make a bit of space to play into. Handling is fine with his back to goal and playing routine passes, he tries to play like Scott Allan at times and just hasn't got that ...I actually think McGeoch has it in him to be a leader on the park and doesn't seem to be quiet. Not nominating as a captain but another reason to try and get him signed up on a decent contract, as we need 3-4 strong personalities on the park including a goalkeeper that talks well and instills confidence in HIS AREA ....

The man we need is Claros, perfect in what he done, nothing fancy just read the game, won the ball and gave it to the creative players.

:top marksTotally agree. Hibs have been "too soft" for years, both physically and mentally. How else can it be explained that they keep chucking points away cheaply, just like yesterday.

If yesterday had been an unusual occurrence, then ok. But how many times is that now recently where Hibs have conceded very late goals this season and failed to see out a game they should have won easily?

Off the top of my head, there were the games against Hearts (10 men), Falkirk (away), yesterday, and of course the game that finally led to the club being relegated last season.

It's not all doom and gloom. There have been great improvements at ER this season, both on and off the pitch, but that does not mean everything is rosy. There is still a lot of room for improvement.

Possibly Andy. Having not gone to ER this season it's hard to analyse, but my impression is that we need more penetration from midfield. How many goals have our combined midfield scored all season?

Leadership on the field is about setting an example through your own play, anyone can scream and shout. It's about inspriring and raising the game of your team mates.

Who was the last BOSS we had on the pitch? Can't think of anyone after Rob Jones.

Gary Deegan stopped teams taking the pi$$ out of our midfield. Nobody came close to him on the pitch since he would make his presence felt. He helped restore some respect in the shirt after it had been cheapened beyond recognition. I will always be grateful for that (and his goal versus Aberdeen).
