Their 5-1 will always have been stolen from charities.
The only thing stolen by Hibs in 0-7 was the pride of the Hearts players.

That's the difference, they are a **** club with no shame or remorse.

Aye right.

it was 42 years ago. 42 years. And since then we have generally come out of derbies second best. Yes, I can understand it if we beat them regularly by big margins but the record books would say otherwise. Yeah and if they are cheaters then they have only been so since 2005, so what are our excuses for the 32 years prior to then. When they were beating us 22 in a row, how were they cheating then?

01-01-72 was a memorable day in the club's history, I cherish that day, but that date has long gone. We need some modern day achievements to brandish in front of the yams. Because I really do feel that we are the 2nd team in the City. We need to start bossing them.

The extent of their cheating dates back to the earliest unpaid debt. What that is I couldn't tell you though.

Of the years that they didn't cheat and were better than us - again, I couldn't tell you - maybe they were just better than us and that's just sport, like how the Tornadoes were just better than them all that time. It's sport.

The 22 game unbeaten run included a huge amount of draws, on so many occasions we battered them but came away with just a point, it was a frustrating period but no more frustrating for us than the period between 1973 and 1979 was for them. I remember that unbeaten run for us included a lot of late equalisers notably King Pat's late strike at Tynie which the jambos claimed to be scored after the pubs had opened (pubs opened at 5pm in those days). That six year unbeaten run gave Hibs fans a feeling of superiority over them and we looked forward to derbies with supreme confidence as we always managed to get something from each game no matter the performance. As another poster says, 'its sport, unbeaten runs happen' Once a team has momentum the confidence of the players often produces unbeaten runs, just look at both the old firms 9 in a row title wins as an example of this.

What a load of complete nonsense. For a start, it couldn't have been that memorable, because it was on 01-01-73 (not 72).

"Beating us 22 in a row". Since when? I think the 22 game period you are referring to included possibly around 11 or 12 draws, many of which Hibs battered them without getting the win(s) their play deserved. One thing Hibs have never carried against Hearts is a large slice of good fortune. I've actually heard a couple of decent Hearts fans admit to that.

What on earth are you on about when you say "what are our excuses for the 32 years prior to then"? What do you mean? Here's some statistics. I'll quote you the seasons from 1964/5 to 1983/4. How about that? Bear in mind this includes a period during which Hearts were relegated three times, and Hibs once.

Hibs wins = 20; Hearts wins = 6; Draws = 12. These figures include twice when Hibs knocked Hearts out of the Scottish Cup. Once at ER, and once at Tyncastle both by the same score (2-1). I was at most of these games. Hibs owned Hearts in those days and I know who was the 2nd team in the city then, that's for sure.

One needs to get ones facts right before bigging up HOMFC on a Hibs fans forum I would respectfully suggest.

EDIT: 6 wins in 38 games for Hearts.

Any comment on the stats I quoted in my post, or are you only concerned with the period Hearts had "the upper hand" as you describe it?

A period which includes nearly ten years when they were gaining an unfair advantage over not only Hibs but every other club they played?

Very strange all this stuff coming out just before a derby.

That's what is important to you perhaps, but may I say it's not all about you. We are debating the respective clubs records in the derby, and you have not really answered my question.

My earlier post was in reply (amongst other things) about TG's statement about Hibs "excuses" for the 32 years from 1973 to 2005, when it is widely known and accepted by fans of all clubs that HOMFC were being run in a manner which was basically bending the rules, i.e from 2005.

I'm not disputing that since "day one" Hearts have won more derbies than Hibs. Whether I would describe it as "a far better win ratio" I'm not so sure.

Anyway, you seem to now be back to being interested in games which took place long before either of us were even born! I thought you were only interested in games during your lifetime?

I get the feeling that what Hertz are like now would have been how Pat Fenlon would have had us playing if he'd been entirely successful in his implementation of his plan. Big, strong, workmanlike, rarely spectacular but gets the job done and moves on to the next game.

IMO I'm far more excited about how Stubbsy has us playing - attractive football from young, talented players looking to make an impression to take a step up.

Because i worry about the future not the past. Just like celtic living off the lions victory all those years ago. We should be making here and now, not talking about a game 40+ years ago. A decent score tomorrow would be nice. Not losing and coming away saying well we lost, but that's ok because we won 0-7 42 years ago
