Murdoch’s response to the honours given out to Hillsborough campaigners perhaps?

Astonishing decision. Surely there's plenty of other trolling, obnoxious, rentaquote right wing blowhards out there looking for work without employing one who continued to lie and smear the Hillsborough dead, even AFTER he had seen the evidence from the independent report that confirmed it was all nonsense?

He'll be a regular on bbc question time now, guaranteed.

In fairness, it’s been a while now since the nations banjo pluckers had the opportunity to revel in the musings of this joyless misanthrope, and it’d be a shame to deny them that, but I must agree: I thought that after the Hillsborough enquiry, with the resultant light shining upon his exposed rock (that’s rock) the **** would take up his rightful place amongst the nations pariahs, barely to be heard of again.

Apparently not…

The world's mostly moved on but I see him attempting to bang the drum for UKIP and finding a willing audience their. "Common sense" and all that.

An unpopular Tory government versus an even less than convincing Labour alternative.

Murdoch won't have a Miliband government. If McKenzie starts spinning for the Tories, then it's just a wolf whistle to Basildon Man that are currently toying with the idea of voting UKIP.

Just like the 90s.

I'm not sure Kelvin really falls into the troll category tbh. I've always thought of a troll as being someone, like the Hopkins nonentity, who says things purely for a reaction whether it's their actual thoughts or otherwise.

I think KM genuinely believes most, if not all, of what he writes. He's a horrible specimen.

People born in Scotland. Are you saying that others can say what they like about us? Why is it ok to call us jocks or worse in some cases, but it's unacceptable to call Germans krauts or the French frogs?
Personally speaking I doesn't bother me being called a jock, but that doesn't make it right.

My mother was born in Egypt so I definitely descend from that neck of the woods.
What would you be charged with if you were to get offensive to someone regarding were they're from?

In the context of these sorts of comments people from Scotland are a race. They refer to Scotland's people as sharing common characteristics based on where they are from.

How would you define "race" in this context?

She's a vacuous slapper with no discernible talent. When you see the likes of her getting the oxygen of publicity, Nigel Farage getting a man of the year award and tony Blair getting an award for philanthropy is shows what a state the uk is in.

I've heard this definition of race as relation to geographical location but I don't agree with it at all. On that basis Edinburgh folk are racist about Glaswegians and folk from Currie are racist about folk from Balerno. It's rubbish. Racism, in my opinion, is related to ethnicity. Its the prejudice that means that a third generation Scot would be considered foreign and discriminated against because they had, say, black skin or were clearly of Indian decent.

What we're talking about is prejudice and stereotyping, no doubt, but it isn't racism. To label it as such diminished the persistent, insidious nature of racial prejudice which means people are never allowed to feel that they belong to the culture they grow up in.

IMO.

How would you define "race" in this context? The man is a sack, and for whatever reason loves to stick to the Scots. If I as a mere twitter user said the equivalent about the English, then I would expect a knock at the door. He is a racist.

If he referred to "the Scots" and repeated the old racial stereotype that "the Scots" are mean and tight with our money, that's racist.

How would YOU define "the Scottish people"? If a sheepdog sleeps in the stable, that doesn't make it a horse.

If he referred to the weegies would that make them a race? No, it wouldn't. Or the Jambos for that matter ( although I think they may be a sub-species).

Personally speaking I doesn't bother me being called a jock, but that doesn't make it right.

My sister worked in England for a while and was continually called 'Jock' by a wind up merchant in her department.
One day he said "Does it bother you when I call you Jock?"
She replied "Not at all, as long as you don't call me English."

Game, set and match.
