The Andy Gillies Facebook page is reporting that three year extensions are on the table for these two and that Jack Mcbean may be announced as a Hibs player before the Derby. What a few days this could be!

So hope this is true!

Does anyone on here know anything about McBean? From L.A. Galaxy I believe. Meant to be some sort of goal scoring prodigy(!?). Has anyone seen him play?

Just can't see Allan signing up to a new deal with us at this stage but would obviously be delighted if it happened.

As for Gray, he and Hibs have been absolutely brilliant for each other. A three year deal and the captaincy please! Would maybe need some sort of appearance-based agreement (to protect us in relation to his injury problems) but I've no idea how these things work.

McBean's been capped at under 17 and under 19 level for the U.S., seemingly Levein wanted him to come over to Scotland, as McBean would qualify to play for Scotland. Looked a really good player until his career stalled cos he wasn't getting a game ahead of Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane. He'd be an interesting signing if it did happen.

A 3 year extension for Gray makes sense for both parties. He's playing great football, looks happy here and has certainly merited the contract. Couple that with his age and the fact he previously spent his career plummetting down the English leagues means it could be an attractive option for him.

As for Allan, I can only see this 3 year extension being a deal whereby Hibs and Allan have an understanding that this is to allow Hibs to get top dollar for him in the summer and we won't stand in his way should a decent offer come in (see Fletcher, Brown etc). From Allan's point of view, this gives him more security should his cruciate snap and, at the very least, 6 months of more dosh before a big move elsewhere. I'd be astonished if Allan and his agent didn't have their eyes firmly fixed on a second crack at England/Celtic in the summer.

I've heard McBean won't be offered terms.

From questions Stubbs was asked today, he thinks McBean is a good player but at this moment in time he said we need a striker that can go straight into the team.
