Apologies if already posted - but is my understanding correct that this was the last time before yesterday we defeated a team playing out of Ibrox Stadium by four clear goals?

We beat a team from Ibrox 8-1 in the 40's I think

Certainly did. My mum and dad were both at the game - the only game my mum ever went to.

Its listed as the old Rangers record defeat .
Our 4-0 is The Rangers record defeat .
Our 7 at the PBS is there record League defeat .
Pretty sure we have more record defeats of other teams , maybe some of the record buffs can let us know .

The 5-0 game was 6th January 1912 (rather than July 1st). Apart from that game, and the 8-1 in 1941, yesterday was the first time we have beat Rangers/Sevco by more than 3 goals.

My fault for relying on a Rangers website for the stats - http://www.followfollow.com/head_to_head/hibernian/vs/rangers/index.shtml - 8-1 conveniently fogotten!

Well he wasnae great THAT day. He was hopeless.

My father was at ER that day. He told me that the Huns were claiming that they had a severely weakened team out that day, because so many of their best players were on 'war service'. (They were probably hanging around steet corners selling black market nylons, if you ask me.) We were due to go to Greyskull a few weeks later, and they were promising a retaliatory thrashing.

We won that game 1-0, with a goal from Bobby Combe.

My Dad remembers Smith getting a hat-trick. According to those stats, he didn't.

Maybe he did get 3, and the masonic bluenose ref chalked it off.....

ps... I see the Rangers' goal was a penalty. :greengrin
