Great idea.

I've passed it onto my local Common Weal group to see if anybody knows anywhere local that would be willing to do the same.
(unless the organiser has already read it on here of course  )

Off topic I know, but a mate of mine is on the council of a wee town (2.5k inhabitants) and since his lot have been in power, they hold an annual dinner for the town's pensioners. The meal is prepared, served and paid for by the councillors themselves.

I think this is a great program, it's really great to see people helping others out at this time of year (especially when you live in a country where many people can't see beyond their own wants).

Very short timescale, but myself and a colleague are trying to organise something like that in Perth after I gave him the link.

Won't be able to do anything this year by the looks of it. The Cafe in Perth that is a social enterprise would prefer to provide outside catering to the hostel ("We don't want Homeless people coming to the cafe when we might not have any 'free meal deals' available"). The next thing will be to approach the Salvation Army to see if they would manage something, but only a week to organise it I think it will be something to organise for next year, and maybe, with the Common Weal group that Gogs/RIP is organising up and running there will be more people to help.
