Just two places left up for grabs for the last 16 of the Champions League.

They are in Groups E and G.

In Group E, Manchester City are currently in pole position as Samir Nasri has just put them 1-0 up.

Bayern Munich are currently beating CSKA Moscow which means that it's a straight shoot out between Manchester City and Roma in the other game. Roma now need two goals to go through because a score draw will be enough for Manchester City to finish second if CSKA Moscow lose.

In Group G, Sporting Lisbon and Schalke are trying to finish runners up to Chelsea. Sporting Lisbon only needed to draw against Chelsea to go through but they are currently losing 3-1. However they will still go through as things stand because Schalke need to beat Maribor to stand any chance of finishing 2nd but they are drawing 0-0.

The only other thing that needs to be decided is 1st and 2nd in Group F between Barcelona and PSG. Barcelona are currently 2-1 up so they will top the group as things stand.

Big goal in Group G.

Schalke have taken the lead against Maribor and with Chelsea still beating Sporting Lisbon, Schalke are going through at the moment.

Pablo Zabaleta puts Manchester City 2-0 up.

With Bayern Munich now 2-0 up against CSKA, Manchester City are now pretty much guaranteed second spot.

Boooooo!

It was a good night last night with Liverpool going out so I suppose it was too much to ask for two good nights in a row.

Well done Citeh. I had to laugh at the radio commentator screaming "and City have bucked the historical trends" at the top of his voice!

Bit risky but no doubt it was on his pre-scripted list of phrases.

Would much rather have Liverpool through over City any day. City are everything that's wrong with modern football.

Disagree.

City are merely a symptom of the real problem. Mega clubs like Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid who's artificially inflated status makes it impossible for anyone else to compete with them.

They are a breath of fresh air.

:no way:

Liverpool aren't that far behind the Old Firm in terms of my hit list.

They are a breath of fresh air.Atletico competing pretty well without spending 500 million. Needing oil money to compete is a myth. City are as bad as any of the clubs you have mentioned.
