Some crucial matches in the RPL tonight...and there's a Ryman League Cup match at The Donkey Dome.

I'm led to believe there's other less significant matches taking place, too.

If Liverpool go out, Rodgers is under pressure.

Last season they were absolutely superb, and really should have won the league. This lot with £100m spent could struggle to reach the Europa League.

Did they let the Liverpool crowd out after kick off. All I've heard is the Basle fans.

Liverpool have to turn it around second half, which will naturally mean they could be hit on the counter.

Brave there HH81.

Liverpool have been very very poor with only Sterling looking like doing anything.

Big difference when there's no Suarez or Sturridge pulling defenders all over the place though.

Is there? He should still be able to create chances, he seems afraid to run at players and go past them - something he was doing for fun last season

Their inability to create and score like last season would seem to say so. Do you think they are as good an attacking force without them?

Sir David Gray
09-12-2014, 09:12 PM
Great block there from the Basel goalkeeper.

Good decision there. I thought he would definitely give the penalty. How many of those has Gerrard 'won' over the years?

No I dont I would agree with you there - any team is going to miss their main two strikers (look at us :greengrin) am not blaming Stirling for Liverpool's inability to score - but he isnt anywhere near the player he was last season with or without the two strikers

Liverpool gave it a fight to the end, but they aren't good enough and won't be in the Champions League next season.

Tip for any Liverpool fans out there, quickly turn it over to ITV+1 and your still in the Champions League!!

Stevie Reid

I don't think he'll be sacked but I think the length of Rodgers' immunity has just been reduced significantly. They've spent a hell of a lot of money and have missed out on more here, by not qualifying from a very favourable group. Can't see them making top four again this season either.

It was never a red. The Basel player who feigned injury is by far a bigger clown.

I don't think Lambert and Carroll is a fair comparison.

The Balotelli one has been nothing more than an ego trip for Rodgers and it's backfired. When you think Remy could have been brought in for half that as well.

I understand the stick about Balotelli but his signings at the back have been almost as bad. No midfielder to help Gerrard either.

Piss poor from Rodgers and he's now under pressure - if he wasn't before.

It was very harsh but he gave the referee a decision to make.

He clearly knew what he was doing as he looked behind him to see where the Basel player was and then he threw his arm behind him.

He barely touched him and the Basel player's reaction was embarrassing but what he did was utterly stupid.

he lifted his hand, lift your hand to another player and you get a red card, and i didn't even need to watch any replays :)

Yep.

He's not quite as immobile as his name suggests either!

His goalscoring record's not too bad!
