Hibs.net has arranged a daytime visit to East Mains on Tuesday 30th December and it will be along the same lines as the recent evening visit. Because this visit will also include the opportunity to watch the players train, and meet the players afterwards, we're hoping that as many kids as possible can make it along.

The maximum number of visitors is 60.

The club will be providing transport there and back so please let us know if you would like to use the bus provided or whether you will make your own way there.

The club will also be providing lunch and the visit is likely to end at around 3pm.

The itinerary will include (but not necessarily in this order)......

10am departure from the ground (please meet at West Stand reception)
Introduction from George Craig, Director
Presentation from Craig Flannigan, Head Of Sports Science
Presentation from Graeme Mathie, Head Of Player Identification And Recruitment
Q&A with all of the above and Alan Stubbs
Lunch
Watch the players train
Meet the players
Leave around 3pm (I think!!)

Please add you name below if you would like to go and don't forget to say whether you would like to use the bus provided.

Thank you for organising this. Fantastic day. Love the way our club is going but my god did today increase my anger and resentment towards the state that Butcher et al left our club in.

However onwards and upwards. Cheers again.

Very interesting day and thanks for organising.

There appears a real togetherness within the club and days like today gives the ordinary fan an insight into how the club is run and where it wants to be. I would recommend this day to anyone that fancies it.

On another note I cannot believe how bad things must have been under Butcher..

Mikey, thanks for organising, and thanks to Hibs for their hospitality. Was also good to see a few posters from on here.
A lot of things happening behind the scenes, and supportera if the get a chance, should try and go along to HTC.
Great that Tom put on a unplanned training session for the kids, they all loved it!

Could you maybe expand on some of the stuff you heard about the Butcher regime? We've probably all heard snippets from players and read bits and pieces but would be good to hear if any new stuff came out today. It also highlights the changes taking place at the club now as he probably wouldn't have a hope in hell of running amok under LD.

He didn't go into it in a lot of detail, and to be really honest, we're as well parking this and moving on

Was much said on new structures put in place for recruitment, training, sports science etc?

CallumLaidlaw
30-12-2014, 04:55 PM
Stubbs rightly didn't want to divulge too much of what happened in the past but the reactions of all staff whenever the past was referred to made it quite clear how bad it was.
The players were not able to start pre season like normal pro's as their conditioning was so bad, so they had to go easy for a few weeks otherwise it would have caused injuries, etc.

Very very impressed with the passion and hunger from everyone that spoke. The depth of recruitment and opponent analysis is truly unbelievable.

Thanks so much for today. Has made me feel so comfortable with where we are heading.

We've provisionally got Graeme Mathie, Head of Player ID and Recruitment, coming to speak at the next Working Together meeting, 6.30pm on 14 January at the stadium - just to confirm the date with him.

Many thanks for organising this visit today. I feel much more comfortable with how the club is being run from top to bottom. Everyone who spoke to us today spoke very well, they are all confident in what they are doing and they are all pulling in the same direction to get the club back where it belongs. The lentil soup was also very nice indeed 😂

I was however appalled at the state the club was left in, in the summer. The players seem to be thriving in a happy environment.

That has been obvious to the fans for a few years now and not just under Butcher. We have lacked fitness for a good few years now.Amazing how little attention was payed to the football side of Hibs.
Thankfully it appears as if Leeann and George Craig seem to be turning this around.

Just said that to the wife Billy - it was awesome!

Thanks to Mikey for arranging this - brilliant day and am convinced we have the right people and the right structure in place to get us back to where we should be.
Was chatting to Leanne and told her I couldn't believe the amount of work that goes into player recruitment now not only into the first team but the youth teams as well - Graeme Mathie is a very smart guy and this can only benefit the club in the long term.
I could have quite happily spent another few hours there listening to George - he has a passion for the role, the team and the club that is matched throughout.
And my son got to play a bit of football which cheered him up :greengrin

Top marks all round.

Ozy, I know your comment above was a joke - but one of the things mentioned today was about how unfit the players were when the new Management team took over. Don't think we really appreciate how bad things were under Butcher and Malpas.

What do you mean by tagging matches Billy? What's involved?

It's post match and going through the footage and recording all match information onto a laptop. Once it's all input it gives us invaluable data on both our team and the opposition.

All our Academy matches will be filmed and therefore we can use this information at any level and it gives us more thorough data on our players.
