View Full Version : Team for England?

Obviously, we would all be absolutely delighted to get one over the auld enemy tomorrow but in my opinion, this international break is already a massive success with the victory over Ireland. Was just wondering what team people would go with. Play our 'star' players to try and get the victory, give different players a chance on the international stage or go with a mix of both.

For me:

Gordon

Whittaker - Martin - Berra - Robertson

Brown - Fletcher

Russell - Naismith - Anya

If players have a slight knock, then you dont risk them in a "friendly", but if all players are fit to play then we should go with our strongest 11 against England from the start in my opinion.

Agee with most of this, but Berra should be nowhere near a scotland squad, never mind the team

I have a friend who's from Ipswich say and he's been down a few times this season and he says that Berra is really coming in to a game? He's not been given a chance in a while so I don't see why not in a friendly :aok

Maybe, played for scotland in the past and he was poor. We must have better than him

Fair point. CB's is probably our weakest link imo. Is Greer any better?

I wasn't overly impressed with Martin the other night, thought he looked too slow for international football, although he did get into a good scoring position

Agree but I think Hanley can be a bit of a bomb scare at times. Give Berra or Greer a chance, for me. Will be interesting to see what Strachan goes for tomorrow.

As an aside, why are we playing friendlies this week instead of Euro qualifiers? Would have been better to play them this week, rather than on 13th June

Hanley is a bombscare.. Id be looking to play Mulgrew and Martin together. The way we are looking to play means we need a centre half who is composed on the ball..

I'd go for that once Fletcher gets back to playing regularly.

I was at the game and his early foul aside I thought Hanley was excellent, winning almost.everything in the air.

England will not play their strongest 11 some players have been released back to their clubs, if Scotland play their strongest 11 they might just make a game of it.

As expected, England letting thier best players miss out, so that when you lose you have an excuse.

England's record up here is pretty poor, 34% win rate. I don't see that statistic improving tomorrow night.

Backed Scotland at 5/2, too good a price to turn down.

I think this is the worst england team I can remember! And probably the best Scotland team for 15 years I'm going 3-2 either way. I think we'll see a good game no matter what.

Nae wonder we hate you lot that much.

With the players at your disposal over the last 40 odd years you have been a total embarrassment in major tournament's. No wonder you have a chip on your shoulders.

Engerland are the most arrogant under achieving nation every to play football with the riches at their expense.

must have been embarrassing for the engerlish just a couple of decades ago always having to put up with 45-55,000 Scots inside Wembers every two years for the home championship games :greengrin
