Thank god that evil little **** will never see the light of day again.

I was amazed to find that he was known to the police at the time of the murder. Not only that but he hung about Port Seton and must surely have been on the plods radar down there.

How come nobody thought to question him at the time. Or did they and just let him go.

I lived in Port Seton at the time - I have never heard of the other baw bag, never heard speculation about his involvement with Sinclair. Never heard his name mentioned since it was clear he had links to Sinclair.

WTF? In a place where everybody knows everybody's business nobody ever talks about Gordon Hamilton. How do I find out more. And what secrets did Sinclair hold that made him off limits to the cops?

Hopefully some closure for the families concerned!

Apparently he molested then murdered a 7 year old when he was 16. He got 10 years for that. Perhaps life would have meant 4or 5 other women would still be alive

A 37 year wait for justice would be torture. The ordeal those two teenage girls endured doesn't bear thinking about. The police feel sure he is responsible for four other murders for which there isn't sufficient evidence to press charges.

I really feel for the families of the 2 girls who, on top of the last 37 years of pain, have now twice sat through graphic descriptions in court of their loved ones ordeal and murder. At least they now hopefully have some closure though. Helen scotts 82 year old fathers description of how the murder affected his wife, who died in 1989, was very harrowing. What an evil **** angus sinclair is.

Apparently he got out after 6 years. Sadly, there really is a breed of sub-humans in this world.
Praise to the police for never giving up the hunt for the World's End murderer(s).

This. And not just the Police, but the prosecutors, forensic scientists and the politicians for the change in the double jeopardy law that allowed this second trial. Maintaining the integrity of the evidence after the murders enabled techniques that could not even be imagined at the time to ultimately be used to convict Sinclair and the authorities deserve credit for that foresight as well. Not sure what kind of secrets the OP is referring to, nor if there is any truth in the allegation that the Police regarded Sinclair as off limits. If there is any substance I'd be interested to hear it, suspect it's just more hot air though.

No substance at all, anger fuelled speculation. Looking back, I can see that policing has advanced substantially since that time. I get the impression that the police had a fair idea he did it, but just couldn't pin it on him.

The other thing I didn't consider is the fact that Sinclair is clearly a cunning and devious man. I can get the fact that he could surface somewhere else, and in a time when communication was not as advanced as it is now, it would be possible for him to go unrecognised.

There is also the fact that sex offenders weren't viewed the same was as they are now. To get probation for raping an 8 year old says a lot about attitudes at the time.

Well done to the police and all the authorities for never giving up on this case. The biggest upside, if there can be one, is that all over Scotland there must be a few folk who thought they had got away with it who are now ****ting themselves ............. good.
