What are the Hibee nation wearing at the moment? It's coming up for that time of year when the question of "what do you want for xmas" is just around the corner, usually I say "ach just get me some aftershave" which is then disappointedly followed by some rubbish choices all round. This year I'm going to make some requests!

So far I've narrowed it down to:

Jean Paul Gaultier: Le Male
Acqua di Gio
Paco Rabane Million
Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood

Trying to get one that the missus likes but everything I've tried the past 10 years has been met with "meh, it's alright"

Acqua di Gio has been my go to every day aftershave for years now. Love it. Paul Smith Extreme gets an airing now and then as well

Also got a bottle of Neroli Portofino by Tom Ford. Lovely stuff but at upwards of £100 a go it's one for a special ocassion.

Don't put it on your face fella!

Actually that brings me to a bit of an OCD point, does anybody know of any fragrance house which uses the correct terms on their fragrances? Aftershave is supposed to be 1-3% perfume oil which contains moisturiser, whereas Eau de Toilette is supposed to be 4-8% and is meant purely for the pulse points. I once bought an aftershave and quickly realised after the burning stinging hell on face experience that it wasn't aftershave strength and was EDT strength, bit nowhere did it state this on the bottle, just "aftershave lotion". :brickwall

As I said, a bit OCD :greengrin

I never use the stuff. Having a chemical smell stuck constantly under my nose really annoys me. A bit of inoffensive roll-on oxter blitzer is as far as I go.

As for hair gel...

Jean Paul Gaultier - Kokorico
Dolce and Gabbana - The One

Any of those are good choices.

Having tried various sample things of expensive and not so expensive aftershave over the past few months, I'd now officially like to declare Old Spice and Brut as the winners. Amazingly those two garnered the most positive comments from the womenfolk, nobody liked the Creed Aventus or the Tom Ford Oud Wood, the Acqua di Parma Sardegna was rated as "pretty average", Carolina Herrera CH Men was also a winner but not as much as Old Spice and Brut.

Special mention to my mum who advised "I'd rather a man smell like a man than a hoors handbag" :not worth

Also a mention for Next Signature Night, at £10 for 50mls it's fairly inexpensive and also a hit with the missus, although it seems to only last about 20 minutes on my skin!

Go figure :greengrin
