The best gig I ever experienced was Mouth Music at La Belle Angele.

Ahh many a great great night spent clubbing in there...shame I've got old in the time it's taken to re-open ;-)

Can't even remember the names of the nights now (not that I could remember much the next day even then)...Yip Yap maybe?

Yip Yap, Manga and Ultra Groove were some of the big nights there. Looking forward to seeing it.

Saw one of the hartnoll brothers there in 2001, think it was phil but could have been paul. Was outstanding.

Jeff Buckley, 1996 I think? What a night. Might have seen Radiohead there aswell? Amazing place, Edinburgh wasn't the same for me after that fire.

What is the capacity of this venue? Can it get near to replacing the one just lost on Lothian Road?

Half the size of the picture house with a 500 capacity according to evening news yesterday.

Going there for kink at the end of the month. Edinburgh badly needs a decent new venue, hopefully this is the one

Bigger isnt always better. I really hope it has a great atmosphere for gigs inside.

Definitely, but it does limit the scope for which acts are bookable. The loss of the picture house is a bad one for edinburgh imo as it means even more touring bands heading to glasgow instead. There's quite a big jump in size from the liquid room or la belle angele to the corn exchange while Glasgow has quite a few decent medium sized venues. Not that it affects me much these days, lucky if I make a couple of gigs a year now.

Saw finitribe through in Glasgow last night, they were supporting 808 State. Cracking night.
