50mph in a 30mph
made no effort to brake or swerve before slamming into the grandfather
had already been disqualified from driving under “totting up” rules for four previous speeding offences.
he hadn’t applied for a new licence and wasn’t insured to drive.
I'm speachless at the sentence given to be honest.

Banned from driving for 4 years?
He shouldn't be allowed behind the wheel of a car again.

Quite incredible.
Quite incredible.
Indeed. No insurance then no civil case from the family for compensation either. Can't understand why this isn't a prison sentence but seems very common with car crime. I recall a drunk woman killing a child outside a primary school near here and only getting a ban.

What message does that send?
So even if you kill someone when driving uninsured and without a licence as long as you have done some charity work (not even in the UK) then you get off with community service....wow.
I'm off to do some charity work just in case I ever happen to splat a poor pedestrian, seems to be much more valuable (and significantly cheaper) than actually bothering to follow the law.
Disgraceful sentence, his family must be feeling rather angry at this 'justice' to say the least.

No change then in 185 years. Wow!!!
What a disgrace of a sentence (or lack of).
The judge should be jailed, IMO.

I'm sure that guy used to have a shop on Gorgie Road and it got shut down for him selling out of date bacon for less than half price.
Disgraceful sentence.

There's no reason to believe this guy won't do it again. An incompetent and dishonest driver, what's the chances of him changing his ways?

Driving sentences are pathetic in general.
