Has anyone on here done Camp America before? Quiet fancy doing it next year, reckon it would be a fantastic experience and would be good to get away from the fish bowl that is Edinburgh for a while!

Halfway through my application just now and close to writing my personal essay. Anyone able to offer any advice?

There's an information evening next Tuesday at the Pleasance if anyone else is thinking about applying for next year as well!

Pretty sure a mate of mine did it for 3 years running, will ask him for some bits and pieces for you.

My sister done it for 3 years at camps for kids with special needs.

In her personal essay the 1st time she made it clear she was passionate about working with kids with additional needs (she was studying nursing at the time with a view to going into Paediatric nursing although ended up becoming a nursery teacher). After the 1st time her previous experience saw her prettu much guaranteed a place. Focus on what you are offering them rather than what they are offering you.

I read a lot of CVs and covering letters in my job and the number I see saying how they see working for me/us as a 'great opportunity' and a 'new challenege' is well over 90%. That's great I'm offering you these things, what are you offering me?

Focus on your strengths , why you would be suitable and what you are offering that others aren't.

My brother-in-law did it. Quite enjoyed it but didn't make much money, if any. He also ended up in a Jewish camp for some reason and they regularly had anti-semitic thugs try to invade the camp.

I don't think people do it for the money. Do people not have to pay for their own flights and stuff as well?
