I'm looking to fly from Edinburgh to London soon, and I was wondering what the general consensus is regarding what type of ID to use? Currently I only have a Provisional Driving Licence as a form of ID as I am awaiting my passport application being approved.
Online RyanAir say a Driving Licence is acceptable for UK domestic flights (http://www.ryanair.com/en/questions/do-i-need-a-visa/) but my family and a few friends say that they only accept passports? Someone even said that RyanAir will make you pay to check-in with a provisional. Just throwing it out there and hopefully someone can help.

Don't know their policy regarding provisionals but you can certainly use a Photographic driving licence.

If you are British or European, a Provisional Driving Licence is fine for Ryanair domestic flights. If you don't need to check a bag, check in online and go straight to the gate. No need to pay to check in.
If you are non-EU, there are different rules. You need to show your passport to the check in desk before you go through security.

I done the same trip via EasyJet a few weeks back. Didn't need ANY form of ID!
Went to show my driving license (for boarding) and was told she didn't need to see it.. didnae even bother getting it out on the way back!
Was saying if I had pulled out and a mate was going instead.. no need for the £40 odd name-change charge.. would just hand over my ticket! Although you know what would happen the time you tried it

If you are not in too much of a hurry, this will be your best bet on Monday to get the correct info.

Thanks to everyone for the info, I actually contacted Ryanair through the chat function which HUTCHYHIBBY referenced and they confirmed that a provisional is fine.
Serves me right for worrying about what others were saying about it, all the information was online anyway, waiting to contact them chopped a fiver off the price though

Just be sure to wear a tracksuit on Ryanair flights.
