Spartans FC retweeted picture of their young players doing 5-1 signs yesterday. Given their tie up with Hibs, does anyone find this rather silly, or am I making mountains out of mole hills? (Don't know how to attach the picture/screen shot)

They beat East Kilbride 5-1 in the Scottish Cup yesterday.

Assume it was related to that rather than anything more sinister. Maybe not the smartest move though.

Lighten up. The 5-1 thing is ridiculous.

Some interesting retweets.....Get yesterdays result for them, and agree it was not the smartest thing to do by them.....

The guy coach,s a Hibs youth team, he should have a bit more respect for the club that employs him than to be carrying on like that.

Just found it and doesn't read well or look great.

Poor stuff from the guy involved, Hearts fan or not.

Does it still bother folk? Think you need to grow up if you're still offended by that kind of nonsense.

Look at that, there's something we agree on. :-)

It's the fact it was on Spartans FC twitter, given the connection they now have to Hibs.....

Not really bothered by the hand 5-1 thing anymore tbh. Still a bit poor to put it on an official club account though when they have coections with hibs.

Spartans Football Club does not currently have a tie in with Hibernian. The Spartans Community Football Academy does. They are run as 2 separate businesses. Spartans FC even pay rent to the academy.

Even if they were the same there's no point getting upset about it. The hand gesture is in reference to their own result and showing that the gesture annoys you just gives Hearts fans what they want and that's the knowledge that they can still wind Hibs fans up.

There's at least 3 threads I've read over the weekend on here which have the phrase "Given our link up with Spartans..." or similar in them.

Spartans letting Hearts pay to rent their pitch like any other member of the public can.

A Spartans u-20s player apparently having a trial with Hearts.

Spartans players doing 5-1s after Spartans win 5-1.

Is "Given our link up with Spartans..." the new trendy thing for Hibs.net to get offended/precious about?

I'm amazed some people make it out of bed everyday knowing that the smallest thing will send them into some moral dilemma or what's right and wrong.

Chill out

It's fine, we'll beat them 5-0 in two weeks' time and their stupid little playground sign will be meaningless.

Are you sure? I thought the link was with Spartans youth section? The SCFA, as the name suggests, runs the community programmes and isn't connected directly to the elite youngsters.

Think this is something hibs need to come out and clarify in simple terms, what the exact link with Spartans academy is and not the mains club. Then the silly remarks will stop

We beat them 5-1 during our run to become the first Edinburgh club to lift the Scottish cup.
