Both should've been punted after last season. Worst central midfield pairing ever.

I concur...if we are playing 352 then Robertson sits and the rest go forward. Henceforth, Craig doesn't start. I'd start Stanton or Allen over Craig and ask, whoever does start, and McGeouch to flood forward and leave Robertson to sit. We cannot break down teams that sit in because, whilst we push forward, we never get enough players in and around the box in the right places. Great flooding forward on wings to cross but if you have the equivalent of 3 sitting midfielders then its utterly pointless.

We've looked better with 352 but centrally we have far too many sitters...I actually think having Griffiths for 1-2 years has set us back bizarrely because it seems like our players are used to being able to boot the ball to 1 player to do the rest (run past 3-4 and shoot from 30 yards and score). Passing and movement is better than last year, no doubt and Stevenson is looking the player he is! However, passing it to a Hibs player is but a start and they need to learn how to play through balls, absolutely everything is in front of the opposition.

This. I find it astonishing they get paired together. Can't pass, tackle or shoot which is essential for a CM. Robertson always takes the easy option too

Craig, captain? Leader? you're having a laugh. More sideways passes than Barry Ferguson and Ray Wilkins combined.

Robertson, just as poor.

What does Robertson actually do apart from foul opposition players and mis contol a football . Craig should have been punted . Why no Allan today?

I had high hopes that Liam Craig would be a good signing for Hibs, but it's just not happening. That's putting it very mildly.

That's the second match in a row where Stubbs has substituted his captain (Craig). Something a manager should never do IMHO unless the player is injured. The captain should be on the pitch, driving his team on.

I'll say it again, Hibs are a club with no strong leadership, both on and off the pitch. Until that is rectified this club is going nowhere.

Surprised Craig wasn't moved into the back three after the injury with Allan or Stanton coming on instead of Kennedy. Stevenson was far more effective down the left than Kennedy , pity there was no one in the team capable of getting on the end of one of his crosses or should I say prepared to challenge to win a header.

Agree completely. Craig never looks to take responsibility, a coward of a player and the fact he is captain only makes the issue more incredible. Two holding midfielders against Dumbarton today is mind boggling. Allan was the best of the bunch last week and should have started.

Our players specialise in allowing the other team to get to the ball first.Nobody ever tries to come across an opponent to connect with the ball. Also what happened to the hard low cross behind a defence almost impossible to defend. We had umpteen corners were players had headers-not one on target-what's the point in coming up if you can't work the goalie.

Have to say that i see the other way, I thought Louies final ball was abysmal all day, in fact it is something he is guilty of most weeks. He did great today getting into fantastic positions, but when the final ball is that poor he would be as well sitting beside me.

I was a big fan of Robertson last season but he is having an utter abomination of a season this year. How he is getting in the starting 11 actually beggars belief. Stanton, Handling, Allan, Kennedy sitting twiddling their thumbs whilst Robertson runs about banging into folk, giving away fouls and suffering from weekly bouts of cramp

When you play two attacking midfielders as holding midfielders, what do you expect?

We have NO ONE that is suited to the formation Stubbs wants to play.

Robertsons seems to be untouchable. A lot of the fans don't seem to notice his lack of contribution either, instead directing their anger at Craig.

In 2 seasons I don't think I've seen a glimpse of decentness from Robertson. What does he bring? It's not goals, creativity or a final ball. It's not defensive duties either?

I actually used stronger adjectives at the game. It really is the part of his game he needs to work at. He himself must be disapointed with the quality of his final ball.

Kennedy was our best player before he was dropped, he has been out of the loop for a good few weeks now, can't still be match fit.

There's nothing constructive that can be said about this pair anymore. Chance after chance they've been given. They are not good enough. This is the team the board has given us until January. One which we were told was aiming to win this league.

In 2008 under Mixu we sometimes had a central midfield partnership of Joe Keenan and Ross Chisholm. (Although Rankin was the usual starter). That has to be the worst middle two I can think of, unless anyone else can think of another?

But Craig and Robertson are almost as bad. Don't seem to know where each other are. Ever.

You are playing a team from the bottom of the league, you badly need a goal, so you make 3 subs, taking on three players with a combined goal tally of zero for the season, leaving a player who scored 3 good goals less than four days ago on the bench.

Utterly speechless!!

Perhaps we should to get the person who managed to eradicate the half time seagull problem to pick the team they seem to know what they are diing:wink:

Sick of watching these two clowns. Robertson adds nowt defensively or offensively and if craig was as good a footballer as a moaner he would be a brazilian international.

Sooner those two gtf the better.

I don't know what kind of professionals they are off the pitch but on the pitch they have got to be two of the worst athletes I have seen in a Hibernian strip.

Slow, disinterested and totally devoid of any meaningful input into the game. Unfortunately there is obviously no money to pay these clowns contracts up and get them the hell away from ER.

Surely AS has seen enough of them by now. Time to punt them both was at the end of last season but they kept their jobs somehow but its time now to give players who show some hunger and ability towards the team a chance.

Both were shocking again today, Craig being the worst of the two.

Every pass is either back or sideways, passing is poor and tackling not much better, and continually slowing play down.

Handling and Stanton must wonder what the hell they have to do to get in the team before these 2 imposters, Allan was dropped to the bench, why?? Also 2 weeks in a row our so called captain has been subbed, says it all really.

Robertson slows the game down to much, can't shoot, can't forward pass ,poor control, needs emptied
Craig carrying on from last season, seen no improvement, needs emptied also
Lewis would do a better job in there than both of them

I asked this last season when he seemed to get 8/10 every week.

'Drive' was quite a common answer.

When the squad were all told they could leave, Craig actually had people interested (certainly in the press). Robertson was never linked with anyone, what does that say?

At least Brian Kerr scored a winner at Tynecastle...

I will say it again, as I did at the beginning of the season ... After watching them at the open training at ER .. With no defenders against them and only the goalkeeper to beat, balls being crossed into the box to 3 forwards ... Shots on target approx 15% .. Goals scored less than 10%
They couldn't hit a barn door with a shovel then and they have not improved any !!

This pairing is not suddenly going to come good they've had enough time and only served to prove neither are good enough.

It's very annoying when the Gorgie mob make signings like Gomes and Buaben - not world beaters but decent enough to be better than the opposition in this league. Tried and tested under that clown Levein (who make no mistake is making the decisions over there, not the cave dweller...) I am concerned Hibs needed an experienced steady hand to guide them out this league and am worried Stubbs is getting hung out to dry...

Ah the deadly duo of Robertson and Craig...cant for the life of me understand why Stubbs plays these two...Craig hardly ever plays a forward pass and couldnt tackle a fish supper. Robertson does nothing whatsoever, forgot he was playing at times yesterday he was that anonymous. Beggars belief why Stubbs picks these 2 over the likes of Allen and Stanton...dreadful!

Craig does worse than hide, he refuses to take responsibility. He collects the ball repeatedly in his own half with his back to goal and will immediately give it to someone else to make a forward pass. A coward of a player who should not be getting a jersey never mind the captains armband. He measures his captaincy on how much he can moan at the ref.

Sorry DH, have to disagree there - Liam Craig sums up Pat's signing policy - a player who appeared decent in a side going well, but broken down you see that the Saints side actually did well down to experienced players being able to bind a team together - he is to say the least bang average as a player. Not strong, one paced, plays safe passes majority of the game (which I hate in a player, it denotes someone who is not only afraid to take a man on but denotes a lack of belief in his play) - he is not industrious, plays the game as if it's 'fives', can't wait to get rid of the ball.

Robbo's limitations for me are his fitness and physicality - I'd love to see his foul count in latter stages in games, he seems to drain in energy far too quickly - but that said he's asked to do a lot in that midfield next to a lazy Craig.

Three times last season Robbo sat in the dug out after losses, on his own, gutted - I spoke to him after the Derby at ER in said dug out and the boy was nearly in tears - very passionate. I like him, like the fact he is a player, just in a hideously unbalanced midfield.

There appears to a form of mass hysteria here.
Yesterday was my first game of the season and I didn't think we were that bad. I am struggling to remember a more one-sided first half. I didn't think Craig or Robertson were that bad. Second half we seemed to tire as much the Sons, which is not what you would expect.

Yesterday Craig I thought for the second home match running played well, in both games he has been subbed, while Robertson who is totally hopeless remained on. Robertson is terrible, never finds a pass and constant stupid fouls, even at Ibrox, he gave the ball away every time. Why anyone thinks Stanton or Allen would be any better as a midfield pairing really surprises me though, Stanton has had countless chances and failed and Allen hasn't given me any glimmer of hope he is a player, slow, lazy and like Robertson can't find a Hibs player with a pass, the Raith game was a prime example, countless passes intercepted.

:agree: The frustrating thing is most of us knew in the summer how bad they were. Even Butcher knew as well. But Dempster goes and appoints Stubbs, who didn't have a clue how bad they were, and we are back to square one, waiting for another new and inexperienced manager to work out who is useful and who isn't. Now we will probably have to wait for another couple of transfer windows before we are completely rid of all the dross from Fenlon and co's era, but even Stubb's signings are failing to make an impact against p/timers.

An absolute XXXXing mess.

From memory the only reason we signed him on a pre-contract was that we couldn't agree a fee with St Johnstone, and Petrie was blamed for penny pinching on this board over that.

I thought he'd be a good signing, but it's got to the stage that I don't think that even playing him further forward (which is where he's been successful before) will make any difference and we have to cut our losses.
