How does everyone feel about him then? Personally really like watching him, commands his box really well and seems to be comfortable with crosses.

Agree with that, the only concern I have is that I feel he spills/dives to ground and palms away, shots that he should be holding onto.

Wasn't too sure at the start however can't have any complaints in the last few games and when you couple that with his excellent distribution, I'm happy with how he is doing.

I think he's been excellent.

I always thought Williams was over rated but I got the impression people weren't taking to him simply because he wasn't Ben Williams.

He's made some good saves, only conceded one soft goal (wee daft cup at ibrox), he's not made any howlers, comes for crosses abd generally caught them without any fumbles and he's scored one and created another.

Hope we can keep him past January.

Mark Oxley - The keeper who scores and assists goals!

I like him. He will get better with more games :agree:

His confidence has grown since the 1st couple of games where he punched a few and looked nervous but TBH I have no worries with hin between the sticks and he seems to communicate well with his defence.

Reasonably happy with his defensive work, but the thing that really stands out is his distribution, both accuracy and especially distance. I've never seen a goalie send his clearances into the far end of the opposition half so often.

All modern day keepers seem to do that, when I first started going to the football a keeper would dive and catch the ball, now they always punch or palm it away

I'm honestly not sure how I'd rate him. I've watched him a few times, he does tend to dive on a ball rather theatrically when there's virtually no threat at all, he did it against Sevco a few times, and against other teams recently. His distribution seems okay, he flaps a bit, but in all honesty we've had some really awful keepers at Hibs, he's nowhere near as bad as that. Jury's still out for me as to whether he's really that good, I suppose time will tell.

There's more movement in the ball now with it being lighter.

I'd imagine that any mistakes back in the day would be soon forgotten too, now with all the tv's if they try to catch it and it slips under them they'll be reminded of it forever.

Can hardly remember him having anything to do in all the games we've played so far. Equally, I don't think he can be faulted for to many of the goals we've lost.Only criticism is that he parries things a bit to often for my liking. Distribution is very good. And he was superb at wasting time on Monday night without picking up a booking!

I rate him- his fielding of crosses was excellent on Monday night and his distribution is as good as Ive seen frim a Hibs keeper.

Every time he done it I expected him to be booked.

The fact that he didn't simply meant he done it again and again and again.

He kicks the ball really long without really much effort as well.

Yeah, you see so many more goals now from when the keeper doesn't hold on to it

Tell that to Kenny Garland - it was reported that after a certain New Year Derby game he was so depressed that he threw himself in front of a bus on Gorgski Road, but the bus went under him :greengrin

Agreed, I think they're now coached to do it that way.

I thought the same but if you notice he tends to do to calm the game down when the opposition have had a fair bit of pressure. As per Monday he lies on the ball for a bit to let us get our shape again or good old fashioned time wasting :greengrin

He's another solid average keeper which is a relief as I was worried when Ben left that we would go back to the crazy's like Brown or Zibi.

I really like him. At first I wasn't too keen on him, he punched balls out of the box rather than catching them too often for my liking but he barely did that on Monday.

Ha Ha! .... nice one Brian.

Kenny was in some of the classes we used to attend at Napier College for our work in the print industry.

He was a nice quiet bloke and ok to work with.

Funnily enough, shortly after the 0 - 7 match, he seemed to vanish completely from the Course!

Canny blame him really. :greengrin

Not that I would advocate it as a way of playing, but his accurate and powerfull kicking is a simple and effective way of getting the ball into the danger areas. Mig come in handy when the muddy cut up pitches come around.

He's probably been one of our most consistent performers. In the nicest way you don't really notice him, which given the bad old days of dodgy keeper after dodgy keeper suits me just fine.

He's not outstanding, but solid enough.

In reality he is as good as we can hope/expect to have playing at this level, and I hope January does not throw up any problems about a replacement.

If his loan is up in January I'd like to see us extend it to the end of the season. We won't get better in this league with our budget.

Most keepers tend to do this when their team needs a respite. It allows them an extra couple of seconds to get up again. It looks daft but it helps.

I think Oxley has been good so far and he will surely only get better the longer he plays with a settled defence in front of him. It's a big bonus having someone that is comfortable coming for crosses as well.

His huge clearances are a great attacking threat that we don't seem to be capitalising on at the moment. The strikers still don't seem to expect them to go as far as they do. If they gambled earlier by making a run beyond the last defender as soon as he's cleared it up field I think it's something we would get more joy from.

Spot on. His big boots present a genuine attacking threat. They should practise starting their runs the instant he launches one.

Williams wasn't massively convincing in his first few games, but the immediate difference between him and his predecessors was that you could see that the defence in front of him had total faith in him.

Oxley looks fine to me, his distribution is good, and I think he will get better. Some folk mentioning that he hasn't been outstanding as yet, but to be fair, there haven't been any games where he's needed to be.

And what i was hinting at slightly is because he commands his box he doesnt have to make as many saves

Never shuts his mouth. Always talking his defenders through a game which is something I like in a keeper.

I've been pretty impressed with him so far.

Not read nada from you experts. Seen a few pre seasons & liked, up to you lot since cos I've been away & not seen much but at greyskull looked like what I would like to see in a Keeper, I say our manager should be doing plenty to keep this guy, I would hope negotiations are ongoing for future
