View Full Version : Dylan McGeouch red card. Will we/Should we appeal?

I think we should try appealing it. Quite an important player for us just now and he isn't a dirty player. I've seen worse and that wasn't a red, for me.

The pace both players were running at cause the tackle to look worse than it actually was.

Thoughts?

A red was harsh but I think we would have zero chance of winning an appeal. It was a poor tackle

Agree. Harsh but justifiable.

I may be wrong but is the suspension only applicable in the LEague Cup?

I remember the nonsense with Danny Wilson never serving his suspension for his sending off in the League Cup Final v St Mirren a few years back.

Harsh particularly in light of the tackle that was made by a Ross County player earlier in the half, but just because the referee is inconsistent doesn't mean we would win an appeal. It was a rash challenge, ball was well away. Take it on the chin and move on. To be honest I see Dylan and Sinclair as similar players. Both like to run with the ball and take a player on..both have pace and passing ability. Mcgeouch being out will hopefully give Sinclair a chance.

I thought it was quite a bad one - not dangerous in terms of being a potential leg breaker or anything, but pretty reckless.

I thought it looked like he had a beef with Cardle - which he probably did, as Cardle is a wee tit.

Looked like a well deserved red card to me.

It was a red. Certainly looked bad on the highlights.

No ... we would lose it.

He was late and pretty reckless .... we didn't appeal Handlings red card at ibrox and that one was a lot more debatable.

Said straight away, red and still think it was a red.

Such a stupid red to get. No excuses.

I get the impression Hibs won't be appealing anything this season unless it is an undeniable error. Costs too much. Do the Clubs have to pay if they win the appeal?

Only seen once but not a red for me.
Won't appeal.
Wouldn't win appeal if we did.

Pretty surprised how many folk think it was a clear red. I thought it was harsh. Defo a booking and a stupid challenge to make but not a red IMO. Would be a lot of red cards each week if that's a clear red.
We won't appeal and neither we should as it would be unsuccessful

IMO ball was long gone so ref had no option but send him packing

Poor poor challenge

I cant make my mind up if it's a yellow or red, so would never win an appeal.

If it were an opposition player, I'd be wanting a red.

Looked like a red to me

No attempt to play the ball and instead of just bumping him over which would have been a yellow he scythed him down

Ref has looked at it and though it could have resulted in a serious injury

thought it was a red first time i saw it, looked like he went for the player and not the ball, after watching several replay's i'm not so sure now, unfortunately the referee and his assistants don't get that option of watching replay's though, i'm certain we would lose any appeal and i don't think we will anyway, will be missed against the buns

Only two reasons to appeal a card: if it's an obvious mistake by the ref or if you're trying to delay the suspension.

Doesn't strike me as any point to the latter and whether it was harsh or not it's not a clear cut mistake.

Take it on the chin and move on.

As it was a straight Red is he suspended for Ibrox for next cup game against Dundee Utd?

I checked the SFA disciplinary section and no mention about his suspension at all.

I noticed that too when I checked on Thursday and that's usually when the suspension list is updated each week.
