I heard there was 100% spoiled papers a mate heard 80 % No

But it could just be the postal votes are not getting opened or counted until tomorrow

Postal ballots shouldn't have been opened yet.

The officer who let this out the bag should be going to the Police and electoral commision if he believe it to be true.

I read stuff like that on Twitter.

AFAIK, all they're doing just now is "verifying" the votes, eg checking that every postal vote is entitled to, and that there is no double-counting etc.

Don't know that they can start the counting until tomorrow. People with postal votes do have the option to change their minds.

As an aside, Celtic players are out of the country on voting day. As this fixture was only announced less than 2 weeks ago, how do the players vote?

Of course you can't. One it's in the box, it's done. This is our one and only chance to take things into our own hands.

I heard postal votes where placed face down and then only counted after 10pm tomorrow so sounds unlikely.

I've voted in every election since I was 18. Not always the same way, I like to think I have weighed up how I felt at the time but I have never been so excited about one before. It is truly a day that will go down in history, whatever the result.

How will the results get announced? Gradually by location once counting is done like a general election?

I'd prefer 70 - 30, but I doubt if any of them have been counted yet.

Despite the apparent momentum being towards 'yes', it's interesting to see that Betfair is paying out to 'no' bets in the sportsbook section.

What's the yes rating in the end column?

What's the yes rating in the end column?

That was my question.(I got it last week).

I presumed that it was the PA's estimate of the likelihood of a Yes vote. I drew up a spreadsheet on that basis, and............

It came out 50.3% for Yes.

There are so many variables though, such as turnout in each area, that it's almost meaningless.

Postal votes (or proxy).

They (postal) were sent off weeks ago.

To be honest no idea. Maybe as CWG suggests.

That's a very obvious, and relatively cheap, manipulation attempt.

Isn't the owner a big Tory party benefactor?

Much much sooner than I was expecting!

Looks like I'll be waking up to the news rather than getting it at work.

Thanks!

You can organise an emergency proxy vote until 5pm tomorrow. Relative took ill today and was admitted to hospital. Relative voting by proxy for him tomorrow.

Visiting a pal in hospital this afternoon and the nurse asked if we wished them to arrange for him to get a ballot paper tomorrow, which he agreed to.

Good to know that every effort effort is being made to ensure that those unable to go to a Polling Station are being catered for.

The 6 ladies at my work were talking about this this morning.

They don't know anything about betting, I don't know anything about betting. We've all heard about this.

Advertising. They're even talking about it on the BBC. Brand awareness must have gone through the roof!

I disagree. If the owner was trying to 'cheaply manipulate' voters, he would have had more success by paying out to 'yes' bets and thereby strengthening the 'no' resolve. It's all about your point of view and of course it may have been financially unviable to pay out on 'yes' bets.

Noticed a couple of the bookies giving fairly big odds on a Yes win. With the opinion polls being so close I take it they'll be assuming undecided voters will sway towards no.

Making people think the election is lost causes some to not bother voting.

That was my feeling as well.

Bookies announces pay out on No -- Yes voters think what's the point and don't bother voting.

That might sound a bit paranoid but could anyone else come up with a reasonable explanation, given the closeness of various polls (including one that has Yes ahead) why a Bookie would decide to pay out now?

They get their name in every newspaper and media outlet for a fraction of the price of what it would've cost to take out bona-fida adverts in said newspapers and media outlets. Any publicity is good publicity, it's even better if it's as cheap as what the payout cost Betfair.

25% of the votes in the the three big cities. No chance of an early declaration by the looks of it.

It could potentially cost them nothing. If no comes in (which is the most likely result) then it's cost them no more to pay out early compared to waiting.

Am sure I read someone put a huge lump sum on a No vote down south. Something like 800k so that will deter the bookies price.
