Watched it earlier, I'm aware Brand is marmite, but I really like him, always eloquent and makes good points, his war with Fox News is great :cb

This.
Brand pretty much sums up my views on the world today in relation to power, money, politics and big business.

His stuff on drugs policy is superb.
Can't say that i agree with everything he ever says, but that's the mark of an independent thinker. Can't help but respect him for that.

Some people might consider mocking the No campaign to be a form of bullying. The type of person who believes that JFK was killed by a single shot.

I like Russell Brand.
I don't always agree with what he says but he's not afraid to say what's on his mind and usually puts it across eloquently.

Yep totally agree. Think he was giving his opinion at the committee on addiction and if you haven't seen it then I would suggest you give it a watch. Half an hour of well thought out opinions on addiction. And very funny at times.... Sorry don't know how to link things...

Not so much truth hurts as trite bores. Russell Brand on the Scottish constitution, up next Bernard Manning on nuclear physics.
You seem to believe that there is something wrong with having a range of differing opinions. Why are you so intolerant?

I don't get the whole Russell Brand thing and cynically see the respect he is given by so many as a triumph of celebrity over content .

Is he not guilty of a bit if hypocrisy? Takes home £5M a movie, criticises Murdoch but is then happy to publish his best seller book on his label and write a column in the Sun, no doubt well paid for it as well. He has openly admitted to cheating the benefits system in the past as well.

Then there's Frankie Boyle, always one to stir up a hornets nest. :greengrin

Brand elevates the political debate beyond the inane ramblings and boring platitudes of politicians, who cater to what they perceive to be the low intelligence of the average voter. Your Manning analogy is laughably inaccurate.
But if you want to engage with politics by watching the likes of Miliband bang out another embarrassing cliché-fest about 'hard working families' and 'one nationhood', fill your boots. The rest of us stopped listening ages ago.

No I'm afraid Brand doesn't do that at all. He is just as culpable of debasing and making shallow the discussion as the politicians are - the only difference is that he swears a lot, uses humour and doesn't dress conventionally. He still talks pish.
I don't know why you made the assumption that I engage with politics by watching Miliband - I'm not a big fan at all. I look for a plurality of sources of information, ideally primary sources of fact so that I can make my kind up for myself. The day I start taking my political lead from Russell Brand will be the day I give up on politics altogether. Each to their own I guess.
