What's the thoughts on the big guy?

Well, he scored but we should not hold that against him!

I think he will struggle to beat Heffernans record of time played without a goal!!

Nice touch for a big man. Great penalty - that's how to take them!

Looks like he can actually take the ball in and is strong although I'm not so sure how much of an arial threat he's going to be though. Confident enough to take the penalty as well. 2 year deal:wink:.

Along with Sinclair and Cummings added a bit much needed urgency.

Absolutely, team played at walking pace and it's worrying that it took Stubbs to go behind before he realised this.

Good addition to the squad.

Changed the game when he came on.

Still early days but got involved - took freekick and wanted penalty.

Also his touch helped for the winner.

Offered more than Heff in his brief time in the pitch.

Looks a confident lad, very positive display. A few poor touches but it's his debut, and he scored, so more than happy to overlook! Between him and Cummings we've got two strikers who actually want the ball and when they get it, want to score goals.

Don't think he is going to be amazing but he will add some much needed urgency. Seems very confident to be able to take the penalty on his debut. He also seem to take a chance and shoot as soon as he can, something we haven't had since sparky.

Showed Liam Craig how to take a penalty. Good to see that only 20 mins into his debut he was desperate to take it. Once he gets fit will be a great signing.

What I liked about him was he was happy to take the ball whilst under pressure, had 2 nice turns that took marker out of the game and on his debut had the confidence to take the penalty. He also had the confidence to take snap shots and was unfortunate to not get on the end of two crosses that he attacked. Too early to tell but I would start Malonga and Cummings next game as they looked good. I'd also start Sinclair as I enjoyed the fact that on two occasions he got stuck in - including chasing back and pushing their big strong left-midfielder off the ball.

No chance, the guy has a bit of quality about him. Not sure how high a level but on short show today, I think more than enough for this level, his turn and shot at the end was a decent move and turn at once, was also constantly looking for the ball

Be great to see him play at least an hour next week, himself, Cummings and Sinclair changed the game today with their constant threats. Dylan McGeough was fantastic too imo

Done well but will need to pick the pace up IMO. I guess Scottish football will be a much faster pace to what he's used to and it showed at times. Look forward to seeing more of him though

Don't think he is going to be great but pretty strong on the ball and a decent touch . Aerial ability or rather desire to challenge for a ball in the air is suspect based on the short time he was on the pitch.

Early days though. Overall seems a decent signing.

Goal on debut, penalty or not, is a great start. Always think it makes a massive difference to a striker if they can get off and running early.

Think he looks like he might be the unpredictable type. Actually gave their defenders something to think about when he came on. Made runs in to channels, came and got it short as well. Decent enough start.

Too early to give real judgement but I thought he looked alright when he came on yesterday. A big guy who looks awkward for defenders to play against. A good penatly - thats how to do it Liam Craig!

When I saw on twitter he was stepping up it went through my head...

If you miss this big man, you'll probably end up forgotten about by next season.

Then it went in. Confidence in a striker is huge, Jason Cummings has bags of confidence, and in his last two games he's scored two! Malonga will feel great now!

Class doesn't show on a maroon jersey

I wonder if it was decided / agreed before kick off who would take any penalty Hibs got on Saturday, given that Malonga didn't come on until fairly late as a substitute?

Who, I also wonder, would have taken that penalty had Malonga not been on the field?

He struck the penalty kick the way they should be struck BTW.

:agree: Short run up as well. Coming from the seria A I expect him to bag 20 goals this season at least. No pressure big man

I have to say I feared the worst when I saw him standing over it. I thought he looked too casual (with the short run up) and thought he was going to something disrespectfully clever or fancy.

How wrong I was, cracking penalty. Totally buried it.

Thought Sinclair was really strong considering his size. Hopefully see a difference in who plays up front next game.

Looks like he wants the ball and can beat a man. Not sure if he has bags of pace, but might not matter if most of the teams we play defend as deeply as Cowdenbeath did.

Sinclair looked a busy wee player as well.

Having said all that Jason Cummings just looks the business too, a strong direct runner who is looking to head into the channels and shoot as soon as he can see the goals ..... just what does this guy have to do to get a start?

Thought a lot of Heffernan when he first came but its just not happening for him now. Don't understand why he rejected St Johnstone when he had the chance of a move a while back. Would like too see Malonga and Cummings getting a start from now on. Keep up the tempo and just try and batter teams.

I really liked the look of Malonga and think he changed it in our favour. He was looking to take the ball in and lay it off allowing players to find more space than when heff up there. Not afraid to shoot either. Him, Cummings and Sinclair should all start on sat in my humble opinion
