I thought he was actually still doing some of the work he was getting paid for?

Bye bye Steve, don't let that door hit you on the way out now...

This was the guy we were all raving about when TB took over and most folk were delighted he came. Apart from pissing off our then goalkeeper, what contribution did he actually make to the club?

A very brief statement of the official site sums it all up!

Anyhow, he unearthed some decent players for ICT, so maybe Yogi will try and tempt him back?

A combination of Yogi Hughes (not good enough for Hibs), Terry Butcher (not good enough for Hibs), Steve Marsella(not good enough for Hibs) and Maurice Malpas (not good enough for Hibs) between all four of them, constructed the unbeaten squad that currently sit atop the SPL.

Yogi has probably learned a few things since he left and has wee Latapy up there. ( seeimingly the football is better than under Butcher )

The other 3 had one good season in all their years of management/coaching/scout, ageing dinasaurs and need out of football for football's sake.

And to think that many were drooling at his appoint over the other two...

That we can have seemingly misjudged to such a catastrophic degree is bonkers. I really thought TB was going to sort us and if not then perhaps we were unsortable.

Well no we see...

Loads of folk only wanted The TB/MM dream team if Marsella was part if the package.

Has he had an opportunity before we've punted him?

Exactly.

He was TB's main scout and would have compiled a list of targets accordingly. TB & co. were emptied before any signings were made. Stubbs came in and understandably wanted to bring in his own type of player. I think it's unfair to criticise Marsalla on that front.

As for the GK coach thing - apart from the various stories coming out, he should never have been doing the 2 jobs in the first place.

I agree re your second point, but that was entirely of Butcher's making

He marginalised Scott Thomson and then pushed him out the door

The players thought he was a joke as a coach

The last game Scott was part of the squad was Ross County away. Look at our results from that date forward. It was not just the goalkeeping that suffered the team suffered as Scott was very popular and a link man between players and coaches a huge loss and still not been replaced properly.

Seen him after a defeat in Sainsbury's once with a basket full of reduced goods. He looked stressed and tired.

Obviously Hibs were not impressed with his scouting efforts. I felt we should have gave him more of a chance.
