Well, here we go again......

Whilst it would have been nice to approach this thread sitting at the top of the table thinking we might be able to augment a drastically improved team with maybe one or two signings, we sit near the bottom looking hapless, dejected and looking as if we couldn't buy a win.

If there's any positives to take from it, it's that the board and management realise that our squad couldn't win a raffle and that only an award winning day of signings can save our season.

So without further ado, let's strap ourselves in, binge on junk food, perv on Natalie Sawyer, marvel at Jim White's borderline creepy enthusiasm and speculate on possible signings.

Will the Cat23 be proved right? Will Bob Marley's Dug break the internet by puncturing google? Will westandwanab multi-quote the entire thread and most importantly, will Dashing Bob S tell us what he's wearing and eating?

Conspicuous by his absence lately, I could also do with my trusty lieutenant, nonshinyfinish, populating the thread with biscuit diagnosis and homo-erotic Jim White diatribes.

I am working 8 til 4.30 but I plan to be stationed at home by circa 5pm surrounded by scran as SMAXXA unveils Leigh Griffiths three years before the official website releases an article on his homecoming. In the meantime, I'll leave it to you ladies and gentlemen to inform the swarthy masses of your dietary habits as SteveHFC unsuccessfully barters with the admins over his weekly gif allowance.

By god this had better be a good day or come 11pm tomorrow I fear Hermit Crab will shoot up a school.

Solid start mate. Sadly wont be home from work until 7ish but will get strapped in after that for the 7-11 main event.

Boy do we need a big day tomorrow! Lets forget this 'quality over quantity' chat Stubbs and just bring in anyone you can get your paws on. It will be like January 2012 all over again. I know, I know, apart from wee Claros, everyone else we brought in that day was utter dug meat, however it made for an exciting TDD!

Remember the days we used to dread TDD cause we were scared teams would swoop in and steal all our talent?! Oh for those days again. I think we should be fine for not losing any of our talent tomorrow

Top priority:
Leigh Griffiths
Another proven, goalscoring striker - 18 year olds on loan or journeymen with a strike rate of 1 in 10 don't count
An attacking creative midfielder, who can create chances and score the odd few

Lesser priority:
Cover for full back
A winger to deputise for injury or when Harris/Stanton/Kennedy have off days

Not wanted:
On loan youngsters with little to no first team experience - I'd rather develop the 10 or so we actually own ourselves rather than pay another club to (barely) develop theirs.
Journeymen who amble from one club to another - see Trakys, Sodje, Agogo, O'Donovan, Kuqi, Done, Vine, Haynes. Remember the season defining contributions they made? Me neither.

Here's hoping we definitely sign from pool A, maybe get in someone from pool B and steer clear of pool C.

Disagree with a few things on here, think we should prioritise a defensive midfielder over an attacking midfielder as we don't really have any body who can play there, except perhaps Stevenson and also I'm pretty sure Sodjes goals were what kept us up the season he was here.

True, however our current manager and previous two seem to think playing Craig there is the answer. I'm convinced that's at least partly the reason he's performed so poorly for us.

Sodje scored more goals for us after we were clear of relegation.

Reporting for duty.

The morning heads up is that this TDD I am liaising with both Cub and Guide leaders but have no early doors insight from them as yet. I'll see what the boy running the kids judo class has to say this afternoon too.

On a positive early note however I can report that this time the khasi is fully functioning. We did have the fire brigade out for a defective chimney on Friday but that shouldn't interfere with play today.

You don't like to be going into TDD with a key player like nonshinyfinish missing - its like Natalie waking up this morning and not being able to find her yellow dress. Just have to hope he has jumped in the car and is following Odemwingie around from club to club to see who he's offering himself to today.

But we know the areas we need to fill and we already have inexperienced youngsters....we need goal scorers poss cover for farid too...central midfielder a decent one... a winger or right sided midfielder and defensive cover not convinced by our back 4. Don't think we will bring in that many though!

Conspicuous by his absence lately, I could also do with my trusty lieutenant, nonshinyfinish, populating the thread with biscuit diagnosis and homo-erotic Jim White diatribes.

In case anyone is interested (I know you're not, but I've started now), I absconded after The Hamilton Incident to embark on a spiritual quest of sorts, my soul requiring significant remedial work after years of enduring Hibs' tribulations and the ensuing .net meltdowns. This took the form of watching the World Cup in my pants. Although initially successful, the acid test of returning to .net during a blood-letting (i.e., the main board at any time) demonstrated that I had not grown sufficiently to maintain my feelings of serenity, love, and loving serenity.

Therefore, my quest took me further afield, to quixotic locations including the R Costings Abbey Stadium, the Longstanton Spice Museum, Great Wymondley, Little Wymondley, Luton Airport Parkway, and the Cambridge branch of M&S Food. Think Eat, Pray, Love but with less inane blathering and more Chilli Heatwave Doritos.

Today I stand before you as a more complete human being. I am an implacable ocean of calm. I can toss off any footballing setback with a well-placed caramel wafer.

That said, Rod, if we don't sign Griffiths I'm going to f****** end you.

A late arrival at work today, due to dropping the wee man off at nursery, has resulted in a late breakfast. My traditional day starter, sitting at my desk, of black filter coffee (venti) and cereal - the current choice is chocolate Alpen which is going down very well. On finishing that I didn't feel completely satisfied and since I've got a cold - and you know what they say about feeding one - I also had an apple & cinnamon Stoats bar, which has done the trick nicely.

In less pleasant news, a short time ago I was struck by the realisation that I currently have council telly in the house and hence won't be able to watch Jim White in all his glory tonight. Can't remember the last time I missed seeing a Jim White Day.

Sorry if already posted somewhere. Hibs expect to make at least two new signings before the transfer window shuts tonight – but Leigh Griffiths won’t be one of them.
Alan Stubbs has lined up both Southampton striker Jake Sinclair and Celtic midfielder Dylan McGeouch, but it is understood the Easter Road club is also pursuing other targets, with the head coach likely to be without top scorer Farid El Alagui until after Christmas due to an suspected ruptured Achilles’ tendon.
Speculation had been rife that Griffiths, who scored 28 goals for Hibs the season before last while on loan from Wolves, would return to Easter Road on a similar arrangement, but after the striker claimed Celtic’s equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Dundee yesterday, Hoops boss Ronny Deila ruled out any such move. “He is going to stay as well,” said the Norweigian in reference to Griffiths.
However, 19-year-old Sinclair, the younger brother of Manchester City’s Scott, and Scotland Under-21 star McGeouch, were both poised to agree loan deals with Hibs today.
Sinclair has made only one first-team appearance for the Saints, replacing Emmanuel Mayuka in a 5-1 Capital One Cup win over Barnsley last season, while 21-year-old McGeouch, a former Rangers signing, burst on to the scene at Celtic three seasons ago, scoring in his second game, a 5-0 win over St Mirren.
But since then he’s been unable to pin down a regular first-team place in Glasgow and spent last season on loan at Coventry before returning north to make his only appearance of this season for Celtic in their 1-0 defeat by Inverness Caley last week.

I was just round a local brasserie and a cafe creme/calva with a pain chocolate to get this momentous day started and as I adoringly gazed at the lovely French woman serving me, she asked 'Ca va?' I could only stammer, 'Do you think he'll come?'. And this French woman looked at me incredulously and replied in a soft, sensual accent. 'Griffiths to Hibs? Are you f*****g crazy?'

l'addition s'il vous plait.

As the excitement mounts will hibs pull a Rabbitt from the Hat I am no magician but think there is more chance of me pulling a Hair out my Arse .this has now become a critical Transfer Window for Us .Cummings saying Alloa brought thier A game and Foster saying Pitch wasn't good enough standard .Both may be fair comment but we really need some players with fight and dig .Intersting one of the papers saying we have too many sleight players quick of feet but not prepared to get into the 50/50 tackles .yes we need a Striker but if Stubbs can't get these players to be up for a fight he needs to bring in a few that are as that's what will happen week in week out and that shouldn't of been a surprise .

By the sound of it Ronnie we now have the off the shelf excuse for the next hammering we get from a part time championship side (or maybe lower allowing for cup ties).

The pitch wasn't very good and / or the other side brought their A game along.

FFS does this mean we have no chance of beating Cowdenbeath away unless we play it at Hampden in the summer after they have laid the new turf? And maybe we could bring our A game along sometime too? Don't know if we have thought about that as a tactic but its one for our backroom legions to at least ask some of the players to see if they fancy giving it a go now and then?

If you don't have players who can or want to compete for 50/50 tackles then you are beat before you start, we sadly are nowhere near hard or competitive enough when it comes to winning the ball and keeping it from the opposition.

Well, actually, Sinclair is coming from Southampton, Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott both came from Southampton. AND he's Scott Sinclairs brother, and he's played for like Man City and West Brom and stuff. I dont want to get too ahead of myself, but he's pretty much guaranteed to be brilliant. Are you telling us you bought a ham roll?

Some might say that this is blatant straying from the purpose of the thread but it could well be symbolic - you were obviously going for quantity with the 2 fillings (potentially 3 if you had butter - other spreads are available) but instead you may well have inadvertently got quality if it proves to be a good slice of ham we are talking about here.

If it isn't then its likely that you what you have bought is a Rod roll and were never going to get cheese regardless - the supplier has simply filled it up with that slimy happy shopper wallpaper style ham - again there is a Hibs theme here so it may be symbolic, lets see how the window goes.

What a lot of p**h this thread is.

Admins can we have an actual thread for transfer stuff and a thread for folk wanting transfer related puns, jokes or banter. It would make the lives easier for people that don't take TDD as a national holiday.

Well, we have to asuume you are typing this from work so why don't you just concentrate on your work and leave us jesters and clowns to our jokes and banter whilst we wait for some news concerning Hibs.

If it's the transfer news for all the leagues you require go to Sporting Life or somewhere similar. Definitely no banter there and probably no Hibs news!!

Or start your own rival thread. The 'no banter, gossip, puns or jokes' Transfer thread...aka 'moaning face git' Transfer thread.

Dynamo claims he was just practising his levitating stunt above the Shard in London. When you could clearly see the wires lifting him up. Always good to know that in rehearsals he keeps himself safe, now we can all look forward to him actually levitating.

Elsewhere, many celebs complain that their privacy has been invaded as their saucy snaps are posted online. I've researched this on all your behalf's, and can confirm that Jennifer Lawrence needs to straighten up the picture at the right of the three behind her. It's slightly off kilter.

Checking in as the boss has chosen an auspicious day to start his holidays.

Junk food potential is limited (primarily owing to this being Switzerland where you have to apply for a special "Radical" licence to flavour your crisps anything other than plain, salted or dubious all-encompassing orange "Paprika" flavour) and I have football training tonight so my input will be minimal - more's the pity I hear you cry.

That said, adopting the Hibs mantra of every cloud has a silver lining, I will allow myself a good hour or 2 to catch up and read through the fulsome, throbbing beast that this thread will indubitably have morphed into by the time I'm home.

Keep up the good work lads, I need some snazzy gifs to add to the collection :agree: :agree:

Not really sure it was a priority to get somebody else in to mope about up front generally avoiding play and occasionally getting brushed off the ball whilst the fans bicker about whether not he was worthy of the contract he was given.
