The reports a bit old mate. I reckon by now someone would have run with that ball if there was any political mileage in it, which there obviously isn't.

I love it when these guys who don't have to work because they are already wealthy, or in the case of Bichard have a £100,000 per annum Civil Service pension he started picking up when he was 53 start telling us that we should be forced or coerced into working after state pension age.

Folk like him work till they drop by getting onto various committees and getting appointed head of this or that Government body for two reasons. 1) They cant do without the power rush .... 2) their ego wont let them believe that the great British public could actually get by without their input. They will call it a heightened sense of public duty .... hell some might actually even believe that.

The trouble is that they cant grasp the fact that for the majority of people by the time they get into their mid 60s they are fed up of working, or in many cases are plain burnt out, and for the most part have paid into the system for 40 odd years ........ The last thing they need is some toffee nosed tosser who thinks he knows about hard work because he built mud huts in Zambia during his gap year ( or whatever ) telling them they are spongers and a drain on society.

Don't get me wrong, my arse polished a chair for the 36 years of my working life. But I would never have the cheek to tell some guy who has been a labourer all his life for example that he is a drain on the public purse if he doesn't work to get his pension after he has paid all his life to get the damned thing.
