View Full Version : League Cup third round draw (Ross County v Hibs)

Sir David Gray
26-08-2014, 10:35 PM
Thought this may have a NHC tag next to it a wee while ago but thankfully that's not the case!

Draw for the third round is being held tomorrow at 1pm.

We'll be unseeded for the next round so our potential opponents are;

Celtic
Motherwell
Aberdeen
Dundee Utd
St Johnstone
Ross County
St Mirren
Inverness/Rangers

What a farce this could be... Seedings based on league positions from last season... Yet we could have rangers who finished 23rd in scotland seeded because they have them extra time to play ties? Horrendous.

Are the seeded team guaranteed a home match?

Apparently they alternate which team is at home with each tie that is drawn.

Seeded team at home
Unseeded team at home
And so on...

If I had one football related wish, it would be to get rid of seedings from every competition, they make me seethe!!

We'll get Celtic or Rangers away, guaranteed.

I wouldn't be too happy if I was a Kilmarnock fan. If Sevco beat Inverness, Kilmarnock would be the eighth best team left in the competition, based on last season's standings (so therefore should be seeded) so for a team that was playing in League One last season to take that place, just because their first round tie was delayed, would be a real kick in the teeth.

Was gonna post the same. The seedings should be scrapped. Coming in a round later is reward enough

If ICT lose, does another team become seeded? Or do the the Rangers get their seeding? Or are the the Rangers benefiting from still being in the two bob cup?

The draw is today, that game isn't for about 2 weeks I think so they would have to redraw it... The draw just shouldn't be made until the game is played!!

Have to admit that I never knew there was all this meddling going on. What a load of absolute crap! What's wrong with just sticking all the names in a hat and pulling them out at random?

Money is probably the answer and it's all designed to get the big boys into the final (Celtic and oldco in the past and Celtic plus AN other, hopefully newco nowadays).

I wish all the lower league teams that aren't sevco the best of luck and I include hearts in that. I hope they go to parkhead and do a number on a team that think that this tournament is just a minor inconvenience for them.

'Mon the wee teams.

They weren't convincing at Stair Park last night and are easily beatable. I was hoping for a trip to Aberdeen but this will do- an easier tie.

Given Ross County's poor start to the season, it's one of the best draws we could have got.

We'll be the underdogs, given that we're playing a Premiership team but we have a chance and hopefully we can win this one and get ourselves into the quarter finals.
