View Full Version : Why Not, George Street, last night/early morning.

My son was hit in the face by a glass thrown by some **** in this place last night. It seems to be random, as he was sitting with his mates and not aware of any trouble/tension/bad feeling beforehand.
The staff helped him - including picking glass out of his eye, but security and CCTV (they say) did not catch the incident.
Would just like to ask if anyone on here saw this last night and could help to identify the ****. Will be going to the police (he wants to forget it), but I don't like the idea of this nutter doing this again with worse consequences.
:aok:
PS
Looking at reviews of Why Not, makes it look like somewhere to be avoided at all costs.

Not good mate, these type of stories are why I can never settle until I know my 20 year old son is home safe from the town.

Been a while since I've been in Whynot? but always remember it being plastic glasses in there.
If it's not now then given it's festival time and open until 5 then it should be.
What kind of clown throws a glass in a busy pub? Hope your lad is ok.

In my clubbing days Why Not? was always quite an upmarket Edinburgh uni type of club. Take it the clientele these days is not what it used to be.
Sorry to hear about your son, make the police aware as it will be noted next time they apply for their license and questions may be asked why no CCTV.

It's this sort of rubbish that stops me going to town any more. Less hassle and cheaper drinking in the non jakey pubs in Leith.

Thanks for you're comments gentlemen.
Thing is they do have CCTV. I find it hard to believe that a club on George Street with an incident like this and no staff, security or CCTV picked up anything?
'Perfectly understand why they don't want cops involved, but nutters like this have got to be stopped.

Whilst i've got every sympathy for your boy I'm wondering how football related this is compared to other stuff that has been moved to the dug out.

Fellow Hibee looking for help after his son has been attacked - should still be on the main board imo.

Thanks
I am asking on the board because I know a few of the younger dotnetters frequent George Street on a Saturday night.

Just moving it away from the lazy journo's that enjoy a dig at Hibs for whatever reason they can find.

I don't believe for a minute a Hibbie is to blame - my son is- but I do take you're point.

Really sorry to hear what happened. I wasn't there last night, but sent a text to a few people that were asking if they saw anything. Hope the lads alright.
