Celtic on verge of signing a c/forward = Griffiths coming to Hibs Everton signing Eto'o = Halum Hope coming to Hibs Hibs getting rid of Nelson = Browning coming to Hibs This predicting lark is easy.
Ha! Like this.
If only it was this easy FS. :-)
No matter how many names are thrown about we will not be signing ANY new players. There is NO money and AS has accepted this. Please, please prove me wrong.
If you know that there wont by ANY new players and there is NO money and that stubbs has accepted this why would you expect them to prove you wrong?
unless you actually dont know anything like the rest of us and are just stoking the negativity on here?

No he's not from Everton but also don't expect the hope signing to materialise. OTJ would surprise me if he is still here past the window, Heff likely to stay but more through his choice and lack of options like Nelson and OTJ with the latter seemingly heading down south if he wants to take up the option of regular football not necessarily his preferred next club though.

Cummings will need to lift his game to get in the team. I don't want to settle for a poorer squad to make it easier fir our youngsters.
And where will this leave Jason Cummings, if we've got a young striker I would rather give him game time than someone's else's, unless the loan player is outstanding
I'm pretty much with you here but Cummings is still young with almost zero experience, if what I hear about Hope he's a lot further down the road career wise, so may be able to offer more. A youngstars form will dip regularly throughout the season, rememeber when Sparky 1st came, not many would#ve taken him 2nd time but the advances in his game was there to see.

I think Celtic's most recent foray into Europe will have told them loud and clear they need Rangers to be strong. They are stagnating. Giving a championship team griffiths will adversely affect Rangers' chances of coming up (unless they loan him to the Gers!)
Therefore, I can see how Dundee makes much more sense

I would like to think we would offer Celtic a larger chunk of his wage than Dundee.

Reading Liam Fontaine's interview this morning and he goes on to say that he learned about Hibs interest a few weeks ago but they needed to 'balance the books' before they could bring him in..
By this reckoning we'll need to find clubs for OTJ and Heff before we'll strengthen properly..
Heff is a much better player than he's shown, injuries haven't helped but you'd imagine there's clubs willing to take them off our hands

I can see St Johnstone coming in for him this week - personally I'd be delighted if we shifted Craig, Heffernan and OTJ and brought in Hope, McFadden and a holding midfielder. You never know.

If the interest was a few weeks ago then balancing the books could equally apply to us selling more season tickets. I'm sure we would like to free up wages for those unlikely to make the team, OTJ stands out to me, but I remain unconvinced we need to have one in/one out. I believe we'll have at least one more in regardless of who may or may not move on.

Would love that to be the case brog but I think the pace at which we are signing would suggest it maybe is a careful 'one in one out' strategy - what I'm pleased with is our team now looking more youthful and energetic. I still think we need experience centrally (midfield).
What also pleased me this week is seeing Cody Mulhall back training and doing work with the physio (who wouldn't want to work with her mind :greengrin). The reports on Cody were excellent when he arrived and he could provide some back up creativity wise, if he works hard and shows the promise that he did for one so young.

Great news on Cody, also Max Todd should be tapping on the 1st team door before the end if the season as well

I'd be more concerned that we're more likely to be approached for one of our better players. Surely they would be more interest in Hanlon or Cummings than folk like Heffernan or OTJ who are very unlikely to get on offer better than what they have here.
It's a shame (and absolutely not a surprise) that Hibs have gone for this cagey approach because there were season tickets to be sold off the back of a bit more transfer business earlier. It's too late now. And Stubbs certainly looks like he knows what to do with the budget he's given.

I can see St Johnstone coming in for him this week - personally I'd be delighted if we shifted Craig, Heffernan and OTJ and brought in Hope, McFadden and a holding midfielder. You never know.
Agree totally best for all concerned if he moved on. His is a decent player however his lack of mobility in the middle of the park is a clear weakness and IMO a very poor captain figure also.

I think only a matter of time before he leaves in this window. May suggest he has other options possibly down south.
Interesting bit from the Heff article is the following quote from Stubbs.
"today Stubbs insisted any further arrivals wouldn’t be dependent on others leaving. He said: “We are very active behind the scenes, looking at who is available but we’ll have to wait and see.”
I could see quite a bit of movement both in and out in the next few days.

Stubbs will give Dempster a list of players he wants and a list of the ones he wants rid off, then Dempster will try to do both, top targets 1st, then work down the list.

HIBERNIAN manager Alan Stubbs has brought in two *trialists as he seeks to further strengthen his squad for the Championship campaign. South African midfielder Matty Pattison and Dutch striker Donovan Deekman trained with Hibs for the first time yesterday, but if *either is offered a deal it will be in addition to other recruits Stubbs plans to make.

Although I don't like to pay too much attention to youtube compilations due to past experiences with players, the main thing I noticed is he gets his goals from playing on the shoulder of the last defender. Balls past the defence he wants to get onto. Could be a good foil for Farid.

The last dozen or so words are very interesting. Looks to me like AS already has firm targets & either of these 2 may be a bonus buy! Also interesting he confirmed that while one out/one in may be desirable it's not essential. AS comes over more impressive every time I listen to him.

Which is exactly what we need, maybe see Craig move on if he comes in, the central midfield berth isn't suited to Craig.

Sounds like Stubbs has accepted that he isn't likely to get any more of the young Everton lads he wanted so that should help him focus on other targets .But sounds like there will be movement both in and out over the weekend and into Monday so looking forward to see what Transpires .

She's a woman, so she can multi-task.
I'm sure that she'll only be at the meeting if there isn't a deal requiring her attention. And I'm equally sure that some will then complain that she should have been at the meeting as promised rather than successfully concluding the return of Griffiths.

I'll fire up a thread later tonight. I'm working tomorrow but I shall report for duty from circa 5pm armed with a veritable selection of munchies, peculiar one-liners and a plethora of pictures consisting of women in various states of undress.
Don't forget your bag of cliches.
What is the tolerance level for GIF's on TDD thread tomorrow?
Me? I am 100% behind them!

Can't see this happening, very overrated player IMO. Championship is his level.

It's been on Everton Fans Forum since Royle attended the derby. Incredibly they're talking, on the forums , about £3m! Yams would bite their hands off for1/4 of that.

Was out of contract at the end of last season, and we were interested due him having worked with McDonaugh in the past.
Relegation paid to that.
He's got a good agent in John Colquhoun, but I can't see him going anywhere in this window, unless Everton buy him and loan him back

To get the players in early requires agreement of both clubs, player, agents. There's many pitfalls between conception & final agreement particularly with players keeping options open & agents playing one club against another. There will be hundreds of deals done tomorrow including I'm sure most of the EPL & some of the biggest clubs in the world. If it's ok for Man U it should be ok for us. That's just the way of the world now & we're no different to anyone else.

So wait what your saying is the next time someone knows hibs are signing a player don't post it??? Weird, why would you come onto the transfer rumours page then?? I was told about the McGeouch transfer on Saturday morning by my source and decided to share that info with you guys and hey oh turns out it's true.
Don't see why some folk on here get their knickers in a twist about this stuff in time you'll see from folks posts who usually has the good info and who doesn't, to make your own judgement on what you want to believe.

Agreed, got me and my eldest ST's when I promised myself I wouldn't, but liked what I heard in the build up to the season. If we end up with a team full of loanees then it's difficult to connect with them as their loyalties obviously lie elsewhere.

That's the problem right there. People falling for the 'quality not quantity' line and shouting down those who could see it was not the case. We need to stop just swallowing every line the club feed us.

I'm maybe being a bit of a happy clapper here but the club have signed some good players. Actually, I'm yet to see a bad signing, the players letting us down are certain imposters from last season. El Alagui, Allan, Kennedy and Gray have been our best players thus far.
Those criticising the loan deals - I understand the frustration that it's papering over the cracks almost, and so many loans has contributed to our downfall in the last few years, but surely if these boys are good players it's better getting them on loan than some 32 year old journeyman never-was.
I think McGeouch looks a good wee player, been in and around the celtic first team for a couple years now. He's also out of contract in the summer so possibly looking to earn a permanent deal? I know nothing about this Sinclair but the fact it's a loan deal or his age doesn't bother me, I'm more bothered about his ability to score goals.
One more striker, preferably an experienced head to help the young boys would be ideal. Other than that I think we've done some good business this window.

I think the players Stubbs has signed look good quality so far.
Gray has been good
Farid - enough said, better than what we had
Oxley - not done much wrong so far and distribution is good - On par with Williams probably
Kennedy - some skill on the boy and more useful than Watmore/Cairney
Allan - again, highly rated. Better than what went out.
Fontaine - more than good enough for this league and far better than Nelson.

McGeouch is better than what we have in Handling, Stanton and Harris. The other boy i have no idea about as i have not seen him play. I'm sure Stubbs has and i trust his judgement! Can't really be any worse or contribute any less than Heffernan or Cummings have been though.
I'm sure if rumours of OTJ leaving are true then i think we will bring in a holding midfielder to play alongside Scott Allan because that captain of ours needs dropped asap!!

:agree: I hope so too, with Farid in the team i thought we needed another player in. Now he's injured for god knows how long, we have replaced him with an untried youngster.
We still need another player up front in my opinion, even if Sinclair is as good or even better than Algooly.
