On holiday the now reading a book called The Nowhere Men. Interesting read about the role of modern day scouts and the life's and sacrifices they make. Some do 6 hours of work for £4 (only entitled to 40p a mile but have to write up reports about it the game and players).

Anyway, this was released last year and won 2014 Sports book of the Year but I think the author researched the book in 2012/13 season. There is a small part half way through the book when he meets the Hibs scout in the south east. He is a taxi driver but the other scouts are worried about him as there is regime change at Easter Road and he doesnt think he will be kept on. Through out the book, it is obvious the renowned and talented scouts get paid around £50 a week (English premiership clubs). I would urge anyone to give it a read to see how hard/complex it us for clubs outside England's top 10 to attract any sort of young players with ability.

Also good wee section of the scout watching Colchester and they have the report in one of the chapters. Ben Williams is the goalie and apparently comes for every cross and is sometimes in no man's land. Certainly was routed to his line while at Hibs
