Air Algerie have reportedly lost contact with one of their airliners that was flying out of Burkina Faso.

Hasn't been a great week or so for the air industry if this turns out to be another crash, particularly following on from MH17 and the Taiwan Airliner that crashed yesterday!

So with that in mind, enjoy your summer holidays people! ;) I'm glad I've had my holiday already this year!

Not funny when there were 110 people on board, who are probably dead if the plane came down in Mali.

Fair point, I didn't mean it like that though. Just meant its not a nice time to fly is it, with a string of disasters and everyone about to jet off on their summer hols? Wasn't belittling the poor unfortunates on the planes, that is terrible obviously. :(

It's been a horrid year for aviation so far, but then that's only the fourth major incident this year (that I can think of). Given how many airplanes are in the sky at any given time, and how many take off each day it's still a low number.

Good point. I'm sure it is still by far the safest mode of transport. It's just that when it does go wrong it makes huge headlines.

At least you don't fly over anywhere dodgey on the way to America. Although I think we flew over Glasgow the last time I went to America?!?! ;)
