Guessing that any festival goers on here will have been to at least one festival and people will have been to a few gigs by now - was wondering the stuff you've found that have really taken you by surprise or come out of nowhere.
One of the best live performances I've seen this year was Kate Tempest at Glastonbury - her new album is the best British rap album since 'Original Pirate Material' by the Streets and although she was tucked away in the Rum Shack on a Thursday night she performed it like it was the Saturday night Pyramid stage headline slot - as good as I've seen. In fact, here's one of her poems - she's recently become the first winner of the Ted Hughes poetry prize who is under 40 - she's 27.

There was a band called Skinny Dipper who played at Brew at the Bog - about ten members of the band, all female (apart from the drummer IIRC) and it's just all lovely Belle & Seb indie pop with strings - really impressive.
Kill The Waves have been great too.
