Decent signing and should get goals at this level and looks fit and raring to go. Interesting to read Alan Stubbs state this is a 'quality' signing so hopefully this will temper some of the more extravagant and fanciful ideas of'quality' we will be signing.

Pleased with the signing, good player in the mould we need, however, sad there is only one player announcement, was hoping for a new keeper + at least another one . Is that me just being greedy ?

To be honest i read that the opposite way, he stated that we had to fight of competition from premier clubs and english teams. In that regard he is exactly the quality of signing that hibs fans want and expect. Id be interested to hear who the 'fanciful' players names you have heard?

More aimed at those who would diss a signing like this. This is a 'quality' signing for Hibs at this level but I think there are still some people who expect us to be signing Internationals or young players who are 'hot' at the moment and whose career is clearly heading for clubs currently much bigger than Hibs.

All depends on people's interpretation of the word quality. I think this is a 'quality' player for Hibs but would fans of an English Premier club or English Championship side consider it a quality signing? Just think some people need to slightly adjust their expectations.

Think he will be good for us.

100% correct to many Hibs fans expecting too much when it comes to signing players. We are a Scottish Championship club with less than 6000 ST holders. It's time people stared to realise we can't even compete with English League1 clubs on salaries.

It is. We can't offer premier division football for a start. That is kind of a big deal. Cutting our cloth for the championship is probably a leveller on our previously being able to offer better wages too.

I think people need to better appreciate the challenges of getting good players in at this level. Some good work is being done securing the likes of Gray and El Alagui.

The people who want us to pay more than St Johnstone and Dundee United probably also slated the Rangers players for moving to them for money to play in the third division.

Hope he hits the ground running, many people will say he'll score goals for fun in this League because of his previous however the second tier if Scottish Football has never been as strong as it'll be for the coming season and add to that there will be far more pressure and expectation on his shoulders than he had at Falkirk.

if he can get 15 League goals I'll be delighted

From YouTube videos alone it looks to me like a target who drags defenders out of position and likes running the wings. Also good with the ball at his feet. As I say though I've only based this opinion from videos

Good positive signing I think - scored more than a goal every other game last season in this league and that bodes well IMO. With that sort of record he could probably do a good job in the SPL - which is what we want!

Quality signing and should score a bundle as long as service is given to him, pretty sure we were crying out for this guy to sign when he left Falkirk, IIRC the majority on here thought he'd be an excellent signing, funny how there are now a few on here look at him as decent but we need better to get to the premiership.

From a Brentford fan...

Yeah – we were hoping of good things from him when he joined (one of Uwe’s first signings – from Falkirk, and had scored something like 20 goals for them).

Unfortunately he got badly injured early on, and never managed to get back in to the first team. But always put in a good shift and gave 100%

If he gets back to form and some regular games, he should do ok for you.

Proven at this level when he was a standout at Falkirk.

good interview....it's ramadan currently, I wonder if he is observing it, and if that will impact him a little catching up on fitness with the rest of the squad...will be a strong addition to the first team squad. Looking forward to seeing him play.

Turkish Green

My only concern would be his fitness. El Alagui had a great season with Falkirk in 2011-2012 scoring 18 goals in 33 starts but his move to Brentford did not work out due to injury.

Last season. 2013-2014 he had 12 games for Brentford and 13 games on load to Dundee Utd. In these 25 games he mostly started on the bench (20 out of 25 games) and managed on average less than 20 min a game, only scoring 4 league goals. That form is not encouraging.

I hope that he will regain his form at Hibs and repeat what he did with Falkirk.
