Hi guys

Looking for a Kilt for a Wedding in October and not sure of the best place to go. Also had a wee deek online and the website I went to was £300+ just for the kilt. No Jacket/Sporran/Shoes/Socks.

Is this the norm or just crazy expensive?

Any help would be much appreciated :aok:

Hire one. About £70 for the lot.

Or keep your eyes on Groupon or the like for discount hire vouchers.

£300 is reasonable for a decent quality kilt. I would go to a shop rather than the web as measurements are very important. Look to pay up to £750 for a good all in package.

Buy one. Great investment and mine has already paid for itself with all the weddings we go to.

My advise - go outside Edinburgh and you will save at least £100. I went to a guy in Stirling for a full outfit and he was excellent. Hand made kilt, beautifully made along with the rest of the attire.

Lidl are selling them - according to an ad I saw on TV earlier. Not sure what the quality will be like though.

Yep. £60 from McCall's in Leith Walk. Believe it or not, Hibs tartan is in their premium range so costs a bit more (extra tenner tops).

Go to a Scottish kilt maker/suppliers and not Lidl or tartan tat shops. :agree:
