Who would they belong to?
I'm in a pub watching the match with a bunch of irritating Argentina fans and it got me thinking.

Part of the divorce settlement, I'd think.
"Okay, you can have the Malvinas, but you have to take Australia too....."

It belongs to the Falkland Islanders.
The UK provides for their defence.

I would imagine it's the whole Malvinas thing.
Get over it. The UK nicked a lot of land over the centuries.
And in line with the principle of National Self Determination, the inhabitants (the islanders) have consistently voted to remain British.

I don't think they fancy another battering over the Falklands! The Argies just use them to distract their population from the fact that their country is down the pan (even more than ours). I believe there is a load of oil discovered round the islands now anyway. And GB will fight anyone for oil!!!

What's irritating about them?
I was in a pub in Palma, with Mrs R and our friends, sitting next to three young female Belgium supporters who were friendly but excited about the game. We told them that we were neutral.
Half a dozen Argentina fans came in just as the game kicked off and went straight in front of everyone to the TV screen, obstructing our view, whilst chanting songs for their team.
When Argentina scored, the argentine women in particular, were right in the faces of the Belgium lassies.
We had to leave at half time to catch our flight home, but we all said later that we ended up hoping Belgium would win.

Bob Servant thinks we should own them now.

Argentina are on the brink again just as they were at the time of the last invasion. I suspect there will be a racking up of rhetoric over the coming months.

The rhetoric is 'racked up' on a weekly basis. It can't get any worse really, unless the Argentinians plan another invasion, which is highly unlikely.
Used to be just a diversionary tactic, but it's more than that now with the discovery of (indeterminate amounts of) oil.
However, the UN Charter has self-determination in its very first chapter and it's abundantly clear - 99.8% voted in 2013 to remain as an Overseas Territory of the UK on a extraordinary turnout, by any measure, of 91.5% of the demos - that the Islanders have made their determination.
Assuming Scotland votes 'yes', the FI remain an OT of the UK (OK?).

I don't think Scotland will want anything to do with a group of Islands half a world away. It's not our concern. Scotland won't be an imperialist country.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Scotland's position after a vote on self determination was to deny the Falklanders the right of self determination?

It would remain a UK territory, Scotland wouldn't be part of the UK.

Las Malvinas son Argentinas.
The people who live on the islands disagree.
And it's up to them, not us or our Governments and especially not that spoofer Cristina Kirchner who waves the Malvinas issue as her country's economy tanks down the toilet.

I'm surprised the Argies haven't sent out a couple of warships toward the Falklands, to distract the nation from the disappointment of the defeat at the hands of the Germans?
It might he difficult for them to make any kind of link between the UK and the Germans beating them in Brazil but they are probably trying to find one! ;)

If that were to happen, we would let it be known that there may (or may not) be HMS Astute or one of our Trafalgar Class Hunter Killer nuclear submarines in the area.
Check Mate.

Agreed. I think the Argies are all front now. Pretty sure they don't have the appetite or capability to fight the UK again?

Couldn't give two hoots about The Falklands. Let's give gift them to Andorra, just for a laugh.
Not worth the wasted lives.
