Best price I could see was £14.40 each way, limited to one train there and one back. An open return to Berwick U Tweed is bloody £64!!

No it isn't. Edinburgh to Berwick is £32 and that's the anytime return that you don't need as it's the weekend.

The off peak return to Berwick is £23.90. Valid all day Saturday and return within one calendar month but not before 09:15 in the morning mon-fri.

4 of us going by train £14.85 each. 11.30 down 18.40 back. That's on the east coast train though.

Why would that be a problem? In all honesty if folk cannae go onto a TOC website and find out what the price of the cheapest tickets are they should probably consider never leaving the house! :-)
