If there was any fee it would have been merely the value of the remainder of his contract

I don't think he was anywhere near as bad as people say on here and could've seen him and Hanlon being a decent CB pairing in the 1st division with their confidence back. Fan power wins again.

Id love to be proved wrong but I agree. I think we will assemble a decent enough squad to finish somewhere in the play offs, but I dont think weve got any hope of automatic promotion.

I can't help to think McGivern is taking a disproportionate amount of the rage from such a poor season ...I wasn't a fan , but still wish him well in his career - good luck .

Good news for the lad, he's looking after himself with this move. We all know its a short career, he needs to make his money now because he could be another player who's only one bite away from death?

RM was honking, and was far too bothered about his next pint, as opposed to Hibs......

Although everybody is entitled to ther opinion, how do you come to the conclusion that fan power forced Mcgivern out the door?
McGivern was everything that's wrong within Easter Rd.
Fans have been far to nice for far to long, its time for us to grow a set and not let any more wasters pull the wool over our eyes.

Delighted he's away. Next?

The guy was very poor, simple as that, he will struggle at Port Vale.

Don't think I've ever hated a Hibs player and been abusive on his exiting Hibs. Even players I don't think are very good get my best wishes on their leaving.

Irrespective of peronality traits, lifestyle issues or lack of ability nobody goes on the park not trying to play their best for Hibs. If it doesn't work out for whatever reason I just think it is sad.

So, all the best in the future Ryan, you had potential, you never realised it at Hibs(for whatever reason) and good luck in the future.

By playing him last 10 games of the season, when he was so clearly off form and responsible for goals conceded at crucial times, he is a main culprit for our relegation - Butcher needed his head examined.

Hopefully fan power will now rid the club of that utter donkey Nelson :aok:

Fans wants good players who put in a shift, take chances, show that they can beat a player, show that they can pass to their team mate under no pressure - here's hoping fan power gets rid of others like RM :aok:

Ryan was around 6'2 / 6'3 and is one of the few defenders that range I've seen over the years who could not jump and head a ball - I was fortunate to watch Eric Black years ago, both train and play - 5'10 and could leap like a salmon, literally. Jeez even wee Lewis Stevenson could attack and head a ball better than McGivern. For someone like him to 'defend' the way he did was doing the team no favours at all - utterly delighted he is away and a sure sign that those at the club know what they are doing by getting rid :agree:

For me, McGivern epitomised everything wrong with our squad in recent years. Looked a real prospect when he first arrived, and then declined rapidly to the pathetic levels of last season. Glad he's gone with more to follow.

Chance for Callum Booth this season and perhaps Ryan Baptie - I heard RB is doing pre-season with us and hasn't been released as yet - anyone confirm ?? I heard Dean Horribine is with Livi so he could come back to ER with something to prove if he wins a deal :cb

The right move for the player and the club.

As other folk have said I have concerns on the difficulty in rebuilding our squad at such short notice but frankly I'd rather have McGivern's wage available to Stubbs to help recruit than have the player.

My hope with this summer is that despite all the upheaval, with the number of senior players that have gone the manager must have a decent budget to recruit with, even taking into account the drop in income from playing in a lower league.

We need to make sure however our budget is used wisely and I'd rather we spend on 5-6 quality players and supplement the rest of the side with youngsters than sign 10-12 decent players.

Did you see the part he played in the ridiculous first goal gifted to Hamilton Accies in the play-off match? The one thing he must not do, and he (and Nelson) makes an e*** of it. Shocking, careless, and amateurish defending.

Added to his honking attitude, I'm glad he he is away. :bye:
