Afternoon guys,
I'm coming up in August and a group of us are planning to walk the Water of Leith from Balerno down to Leith. We are looking to have plenty of pub stops and grab some lunch along the way.
Any recommendations for stops along the route?
I've never done the walk before, so have no idea.
Cheers

Murrayfield Hotel
Hectors/Hamiltons in Stockbridge
The Shore/The Ship on the Shore for a meal at the end.
My mates do an annual pub crawl down the Water of Leith Walk Way.
Lots of good pubs on the way, or just off it. Quite a few have changed over the years too so difficult to say, its not difficult though to spot the odd scabby one!

You should stop off at the National museum of Modern Art. Just past Roseburn Park before you get to where the Dragonera Hotel used to be. You go actions the bridge and up the stairs. Did this a couple of weeks ago. Had 5 mins in the museum, then sat outside in the gardens having a beer and a great lunch. Definitely worth a stop

A blast from the past! It must be over 25 years since I was in either Brow's or the Honky!

My aunty and uncle (Katie and Drew) used to run The Honky years ago, must've been in the 80s sometime.

:aok: I got on great with them. I used to play in a pipe band that practiced in Balerno every Wednesday night and we invariably went for a few pints afterward. It would have been around 1987/88 that I stopped going to Balerno regularly (or at all even).

Katie stays in Livingston now, unfortunately Drew died around about early - mid 90's.
