You're right that we always had something to play for, from 74 onwards. Not sure about 54 and 58 though.

However, IIRC in 78 we were penalised 2 (3?) points after the event for the Willie Johnston drugs-test. So, even though we nearly made it through on the park, think we would have been turfed out anyways.

We've never been past the first round. And haven't been in a tournament since 1998. Best we keep quiet and just qualify for one!
