I know it sounds silly, but is it not so it makes it easier for the officials? So that if the ball hits of a player the officials can tell who it was, eg a corner or offiside, if its deflected from within a large group of players? Im sure all top/shorts/socks have to be identifiable?

I can understand both teams not being allowed to wear the same colour shorts.

However the rules this time are that each team has to have one strip easily identifiable as light and the other as dark. Hence Germany and Argentina in white shorts, Spain in all red etc. Only team that seem to be getting away with it are Brazil although even their shorts are a couple of shades lighter than usual apparently.

They are hammering Argentina here. Look they are winning and admittedly have looked flat, but they haven't needed to flash dance in this game. This tournament is long and hard if you don't need to go full steam why should you?

Saying that, as I alluded to in a previous post, to me Messi does look a touch heavy and he does look lackluster here. Anyway we'll see I suppose
