I think quiet co commentators are better.

Sometimes less is more.

Have to say, Gary is a top pundit.

I've used the red button for the no commentary option - just crowd noise.

He actually sounds like a slightly less camp Alan Bennett. It's as if he should actually be discussing the merits of custard creams than football.

The best thing is to listen to the Five Live commentary on the red button. Or watch a Portuguese stream on your PC! The mainstream tv commentary is diabolical. ITV is as bad.

Gary Neville is prob the best pundit out there, knows the game and is always fair

Horrendous. And I thought Michael Owen was bad - well I still do but he's now not the worst.

He's terribly inarticulate. He says "them sort of balls". Andy Townsend does that too.

Can't someone have a word? Our youngsters shouldn't be exposed to bad grammar like this.

Ok not faultless but I thought he was quite insightful. Identified England's problem on their left early on, that Rooney wasn't comfortable etc

Is there some hellish co-commentator voice coach, that they all go to? Possibly at the Burley-Dodds television training school, honorary vice-principal Hazel Irving.

Is it true that his dad is called Neville Neville?

Yup. A result of being named during a Christening ceremony with some yodellers in the Swiss alps.

I have to say, if you're going to be a pundit you should at least be able to be understood. Carragher sounds like a very loose fart being strangled through a megaphone.

He does have a very boring voice, however he did also offer some insight into the way that the game was being played out which is more than than that total half-wit Mark Lawrenson ever does.
